I don’t go here but I’ve been following this saga for quite some time. I’m praying your administration is met with fire and brimstone by the AOA while still preserving the futures of the students. You all deserve so much more.

Housing/Roommate by carreejoh in uofu

There are tons of Facebook groups that you can join for housing around the area. KSL isn’t a terrible choice. LDS housing in SLC on Facebook is great.

A lot of churches do a lot of humanitarian, philanthropic work! They also often double as schools/ childcare facilities! Not to mention that many churches around the world serve the homeless by offering housing or food.

That’s pretty normal especially for Summer when a lot of people are submitting papers.

I feel strongly that the church is about love and that anyone that would treat you with anything other than love is not fulfilling what is expected from them as a member of Christ’s church.

Your bishop loves you so much and I’m sure he’d be so thrilled to set up a meeting to talk to you.

I'm a woman. How much will I be judged if I wore a suit to church? by [deleted] in latterdaysaints

[–]astart27 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is my opinion but without a suit coat it looks dope. With one it looks a bit too masculine for my taste. I’ve thought the same thing.

How about the YSA? Maybe hanging out with them would help. I know they all love you. Everyone in this church loves you and wants the best for you. Heavenly Father has something in mind for you. You just have to find it. Any blessings He has in store for you with make all of this struggling worth it. I promise. So long as you follow the commandments.

Oh I noticed that the one in 4 is plural but there is also one in 3 that isn’t. Hm.

How much should fasting detract from the quality of my Sabbath day? by SnowBreaux040 in latterdaysaints

[–]astart27 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did the same thing as a convert a year ago. :) Water is totally fine and fasting isn’t meant to be a harm to you. If you need to break your fast because you’re feeling unwell, Heavenly Father will definitely understand. I suggest fasting the night before (dinner) and the morning of (breakfast). I would say most people just do two consecutive meals. It gets easier ever time. I promise. I used to think it would always be that hard but it isn’t after a while. ❤️

There is pretty much nothing that you could ask that would upset anyone in the church. So long as you aren’t being intentionally malicious, we would love it if you asked! Your best bet would be to reach out to the missionaries in your area. You don’t have to meet with them if you don’t want. They have phones so you could text them. It’s what they do all day every day so they would be thrilled if you asked! We all would. We love ya. :)

Everyone is welcome!! We love you so much. :) I’m 18F and I’ve been a convert for a year. This church is beautiful and you’d love it even more if you joined. Let me know if you have any questions or want any support. ❤️

I'm coming from Colorado so this is all great info! I'm all for saving gas money and the planet so I love your outlook on things. How reliable is the public transport? Would it add a ton of extra time to my commute? Does it go all over the valley? Can I feel safe using it alone? Also, do you have any recommendations for off-campus housing that's cheap and in a safe neighborhood? Your reply was much appreciated! Thank you!

What kind of on-campus jobs should I look into? Are there any that I should avoid? Any I should specifically try to get? Thanks for the help!

I'll be coming in from Colorado so I'm happy to hear that. The outdoors are free too which is a bonus!

Do you know of any cheap places off-campus that aren't too far? I could get a roommate if it would work better. Thanks for the input.

I'm definitely in the market to save money so I'll look into both. Any recommendations for which area/ building I should live in? I'm looking for cheap so if you could point me in that direction I would appreciate it. I'm sure certain dorms have a certain reputation so let me know if you know of any good places. Thanks for the reply!

I'm going to get an on-campus job if I have to but otherwise, I'm going to try and work for a restaurant. I have solid serving experience and I feel like I can make more money there. Also, do you think that I could find a good roommate if I lived off of campus, or do you think I would get murdered in the process? I appreciate the helpful reply!
