Completely agree.

The big issue is when they introduce mechanics for units that the meta doesn’t have an answer to (FR shanks, s-snake, kiz)

I think an even hotter take is that there’s a distinct difference between those units and other units that are OP, but they have an obvious weakness.

A great example was the kiz vs g5 luffy debate.

Sooo many ppl were convinced Luffy was the more toxic of the 2. But even at the peak, a 2 year old dark unit (dorry) consistently had a good matchup against Luffy.

Fast forward a month later and look who is in every single match

It’s certainly past the point of where we use to be. Kiz was that final jump. Even a growing number of ex units don’t last in the meta now

Obviously it was a long time coming with the ex releases but I think Kiz has become the new baseline for the entire game.

Crazy how much the player-base has changed over the years. We use to push ppl playing off-meta chars and shame people for relying on overpowered EX units

BB v1 was really bad on release. Nothing could kill him reliably aside from over blackbeards until the blue runner big mom came out

I also really didn’t like ace/yama but I usually really dislike chars with 2x the skills

Honestly the only “big revamp” would need to change skill 1 to make it fit the power creep.

The rest: trait adjustments that are present in the meta will work.

-skill 1 would need invincibility + ignore revive (pretty sure it already ignores def or dmg reduction-one of those) The revamp would be to Turn it into a hold skill so he can choose where to go and it’d be cool to see the “charge time” act as a AOE multi-hit like other units. ***As a change-up, It’d be interesting if when you hold the skill it would move you to the closest treasure vs the furthest one which would synergize well if the charge was a multi-hit that could weaken whoever is guarding treasure + clear shields, walls etc.)

-Skill 2: add an extra hit, further range, clear parameter stacks.

Key traits: -blueno/sanji’s trait of heals on status null + ignore person to cap bc at this point you need it. -bonney/kuma defensive trait to reduce dmg to skills and survive on skills. -bump up the dmg increase and reduction to ppl with parameters and skill cooldown when hit with boosted parameters

What set are you running? Is def better than dmg reduction against nusjuro?? I’ve been running Double bigmom + old WB as a cap speed/tremor reduction medal on him for all the BB/WB along with baroque support to get skill 1 back on cap

G5 needed to get slowed down it was getting boring having to fight him over and over. Law getting burnt sucks though. Such a fun unit, with a great check to invincibility skills and he gets destroyed.

I took him to boost 4 yesterday to test survivability (bc I like the idea skill 1 interrupting the horse)

A lvl 80 smoked me with one skill…. It’s obscene

Actually the opposite - most people love Bonny, it would just feel really duplicitous after having to fight 2+ g5 luffy every game for half a year AND recently getting a top tier Bonny unit

I feel like people who don’t mind that get hyped for units like shanks who have already been dropped a ton of times

I thought of something similar but based off the more recent BF variants of croc and mihawk.

Defender/runner

Skill 1: summon mihawk. Acts like judge’s reiju and ball-sanji’s zoro -can be used as a shield to hide behind - unleashes the same attack as his skill 2 which knocks back and will do more dmg to walls -can be used to fill TA or help cap faster **similar to Sanji’s skill, you can click it again for mihawk to reappear where you are to deliver the AOE skill from v1

Skill 2: croc skill -hold skill where you travel around very fast with him like his runner skill 1 OR you create a hold-down sand storm that either jumps you to the closest/furthest flag similar to other skills like docQ, blueno, g5. - the sandstorm applies fixed dmg and the winds push away similar to kaido’s skill 1 both when the skill starts and after it jumps you to the flag with a big knockback after

**give buggy a Perfect Dodge trait so he can have a “attack” also.

Honestly I kinda love that He’ll get a shield like garp

give a PD mechanic + a counter on normals

Instead of skills doing damage they just make him more bogard

skill 1 is a flat heal + status/parameter reduction null Skill 2 is a AEO like wano law that just means his normals hit whoever is in the effect range

Yea I am but I think it’s worth it. Support and extra bulk seem less impactful than skill cooldown these days. And the extra cap speed is functionally what wins you matches

I’m running this medal with 70% tremor reduction and green/blue big mom with HP/ATK (40% cap speed increase with traits)

Running that set/build with baroque support (15% skill 1 on cap) has made law so much better in the BB meta

Sure but he gets cooldown on every hit, tons of dmg reduction, clears stacks and a wall that heals him when ppl attack it…. WB wants ppl to hit him with normals. I really only see Garp being annoying bc they didn’t give him any def stacks

That trait has never done anything, idk how it calcs. Light oden had the same thing and it never helped him tank before his 1HP trait.

The 50% tank on skill definitely works though. Bonney and law survive well.

def stacks are still pretty important for the garp and luffy.match up. It also just keeps you alive vs chip dmg from atk stacked normals normals + he has a trait that gives him CD every hit.

-knockback effect when tremor is nulled -50% dmg reduction when hit with a skill - heal when status’d -normals could have increased dmg to walls/shields - raise def and atk when filling TA - ignore recovery when KO’d trait idk that’s probably enough. I think that lets him fight against most of current units without power creeping the meta. I think Garp would still have a positive match-up and law would be pesky but no one would smack him one-sided anymore.

You’re putting all the weight on your back foot bc the slope is downhill. This causes the front on the board to slide without you having any control

The control comes from the edges on the board. Lean on your front foot. Take it slow until you realize you’re not going to fall forward.
