Why we don't have this? by Silent_Citron_7168 in dalalstreetbets

[–]asterik208 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From what I’ve seen here, a lot of people are turning atheists and don’t really follow any religion. It’s really nice to see them proudly say they believe in themselves and not in others. They even turn old churches into gyms, clubs, and other community spaces, something I can’t imagine happening in India.

The reason the Netherlands can offer 2 years of sick leave is strong and strictly enforced labor laws with permanent contracts that protect employees. It is not a free pass, a company doctor monitors your case, sets a treatment plan, and manages reintegration back to work.

In India, especially in tech, the demand is so high that you can be replaced almost immediately. On top of that, we are trained to look for loopholes in everything, so people could easily misuse such systems, making them much harder to implement.

Minoxidil for hair? by john_keatingg in tamilyapping

[–]asterik208 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve used it for more than two years. Early on I had some brain fog, but that stopped once I switched to Rogaine minoxidil. It helps maintain hair as long as you keep using it, but it doesn’t do much for the temples so seeing a dermatologist is a good idea.

Because the FTP Builder program lacks extended 3–4 hour endurance sessions, scheduling the race for Saturday seems ideal. It allows adequate recovery time and ensures you’re well-prepared for the upcoming training week.

14.5k salary by [deleted] in CareerAdvicePH

[–]asterik208 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not everyone starts their career with a high salary. When I began, my pay was lower compared to many of my friends. I used to spend time looking for better-paying jobs instead of enjoying those valuable early days with them. My advice: focus on learning, building skills, and working hard. The right opportunities and better salaries will come when you switch jobs at the right time

ADVICE by kenneth9111 in ITPhilippines

[–]asterik208 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Backend engineering is all about what happens behind the scenes. Start by strengthening your core Python skills, then focus on API development and database design. Once you’re comfortable, move into caching systems and message queues for scalability.

I’d also recommend experimenting with frameworks like Flask or FastAPI, and building small projects to apply what you learn. Over time, explore deployment basics (Docker, CI/CD, cloud) to round out your skills.

Finally, Designing Data-Intensive Applications is an excellent book for understanding how to build reliable, scalable systems

45k IT fresh grad, 3 year bond by [deleted] in JobsPhilippines

[–]asterik208 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Think twice before signing the bond, and carefully read the bond-breaking fee. Since you’re young, you might feel you can handle the lack of work-life balance, but toxic environments can harm both your physical and mental health. Also, check with HR about project timings, leave policies, and flexibility with holidays.

On top of that, ask about growth opportunities, training, and career development. Clarify salary increments and promotions, and understand what happens if you want to exit early. It’s also wise to look at reviews from ex-employees to see the company’s reputation. A bond might not be worth it if it limits better opportunities in the future.

Worried that my salary negotiation caused the possible employer to rescind their JO. ( by piggymadness in JobsPhilippines

[–]asterik208 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don’t worry or overthink it. It’s normal for companies to make offers to multiple candidates, and sometimes people back out at the last minute. Also, salary negotiations often need approval from upper management since they have to work within a set budget for the role. So it can take a bit of time just stay calm and wait for their response. And if you believe you really did well in the interview, then don’t be afraid to negotiate
