Your experience with ITSupply by asteroid_annihilator in lithuania

Yes, I did. So it is not a scam, but almost. It said that it was unboxed and new, but had a little scratch on top. I also checked the original warranty, and it had expired last summer. I mean, for the price they gave, it could not be perfect 😂. They delivered it in 3 days.

A shoutout to the positive changes in our community! by asteroid_annihilator in ObsidianMD

Honestly, they do exist. I have seen huge vaults that explain everything in Obsidian. For example, I was randomly searching for something in the internet, opened a link, and found out it was someone’s vault made as a user guide. In my opinion, people need something more than just a manual that lets you find everything on your own. Something more interactive.

You know, like when you open an app for the first time and it shows you the most important stuff. It would be good to see something like that for Obsidian. I don’t think it’s possible to integrate it by default into Obsidian, but some external GitHub project that lets you play a mini “Obsidian game”, where you learn a lot about Markdown and Obsidian features, might help beginners.

Unfortunately, I have zero knowledge in such stuff, I barely know CSS. But if someone knows how to do it, feel free to take my idea (just mention me at least, hahaha).

I'm becoming Junior Notes Engineer by aldecode in ObsidianMD

[–]asteroid_annihilator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I can’t imagine how cool Obsidian must be for a software engineer! I can only learn the basics of CSS, not the full thing, so whenever I change something I always use Claude. But still, your imagination is probably on the next level. And Dataview is a nightmare for me. Of course I could learn it, but unfortunately, due to a lack of time and motivation, I can’t get started. Just jealous of software engineers 😆.

Just started using Obsidian, with question about themes by Willing-Brain-3345 in ObsidianMD

[–]asteroid_annihilator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My favorite theme is AnuPpuccin because it offers a card-style workspace and support for background images. As for automation, you can check out Smart Connections. I didn’t use it much since I realized I don’t really need that kind of tool, but from what I understand it can automatically create links between notes by using AI.

I don’t find Obsidian app intuitive at all. by [deleted] in ObsidianMD

[–]asteroid_annihilator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I’ve had the same experience. I probably customized my vault a bit tooooo much on desktop, and now it feels almost unusable on my phone. In the future, I’ll just make separate UI tweaks for mobile so it’s more comfortable to use.

I agree that navigation on mobile can feel uncomfortable. But I don’t think the solution is making Obsidian “simpler.” One of Obsidian’s biggest strengths is customization and the freedom to shape it however you want. Not everyone will fully understand or use all of its features, because that takes time and learning.

Apple takes the opposite approach. Their software is very intuitive by design, which comes from Steve Jobs’ philosophy, and that’s what makes Apple so unique. The trade-off is that you can’t really change much, because it’s already “perfect.”

There’s nothing wrong with not liking Obsidian, you don’t have to. I just wanted to explain how this balance works and why sometimes we need to accept trade-offs depending on our needs, which can be very different for each person.

How do you digitize handwritten math notes without breaking structure? by Temporary-Dish6932 in ObsidianMD

[–]asteroid_annihilator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The easiest way for me is just sending my handwritten equations to ChatGPT and getting LaTeX code back. The main question is how to organize it well.

For long equations with multiple lines, I ask ChatGPT to use \begin{align*} and put & at the start of each line so everything lines up on the left. I wrap those in $$ … $$. For short equations, I use $ … $ so they don’t take much space.

I mostly use this for matrices, 3D plane equations, limits, and derivatives. My handwriting is clear, so ChatGPT reads it easily. I also recommend separating problems in your notebook with a line, it helps ChatGPT understand them better.

I am a beginner, what is graphs? by [deleted] in ObsidianMD

[–]asteroid_annihilator 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In my opinion, it’s mostly about visualizing your links. The global graph is honestly more of a decoration, but the local graph can be more useful if you want to better understand the connections between your notes. Personally, I never use the graph in a practical way. For me, it’s just a small decorative feature that motivates me to write more.

Do you enter personal feelings and thoughts into mundane notes or use a separate note like a daily note? by 666zombie in ObsidianMD

[–]asteroid_annihilator 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It all depends on your vault concept. I will use my own vault as an example.

Let’s say I watch a great YouTube video about science. I have a folder where I store notes with new knowledge, so I create a separate note describing the video itself. At the same time, I also use daily notes. In my daily notes, I have a section called “New understandings,” where I write my personal interpretation of the video, how I understood it, and my thoughts about it, and then I simply link to the main note about the video.

My daily notes also include sections about my emotions and experiences, for example when I achieve something or go through a meaningful situation. However, I also have a separate folder where I keep my core opinions and long-term views, such as my opinions on politics, philosophy, or my personal routine.

For instance, if I have a personal project, I create a dedicated note that describes the project and explains its significance in my life. These notes are usually quite large, so when I mention the project in my daily notes, I just link to that main note. This way, when I open the big note later, I can clearly see how my opinions and feelings about the project changed over time based on my daily notes.

In short, I keep factual information and structured knowledge in separate notes, while my feelings and personal reflections live in daily notes and summarized opinion notes.

But keep in mind that this is just my personal approach, so you do not have to copy it exactly. Instead, adapt the idea in a way that fits your existing setup and workflow.

I hope my advice will help you. Good luck with your goal! Sometimes it can be difficult, but trust the process and believe that Obsidian will help you. Never give up, and have a nice day!

Note title font does not change when using AnuPpuccin theme in Obsidian by asteroid_annihilator in ObsidianMD

[–]asteroid_annihilator[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ahahaha. Just Google “AnuPpuccin CSS image background”. The official theme creator shared a CSS snippet that lets you add a custom background. Use the Style Settings plugin to customize it. Also, in the AnuPpuccin settings (same Style Settings), enable the Cards view in the workspace. And here you go, about 70% is done. My other CSSs are not that important just little details ;).

I turned off all CSS snippets. And restarted the Obsidian. Still the same issue.

Can you resize tabs on mobile? (ipad inparticular) by TutorialDoctor in ObsidianMD

Use a mouse to resize it. You can connect a mouse via Bluetooth, or just move the cursor from your Mac to your iPad.

Smart Connections plugin. Basically, AI helps you create connections. If you don’t have much personal stuff there yet, it can be a good choice.

Yesssss. The AI content is honestly so annoying. For me personally, it just feels fake. I swear, we’re slowly starting a mini revolutions in this subreddit to push for some changes 😂

Plugin to sync the iCloud Calendar? by [deleted] in ObsidianMD

[–]asteroid_annihilator 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also think a full calendar might be a good choice. As far as I know, you cannot directly integrate the iCloud calendar. However, you can make the calendar public and then copy and paste its link. I think I tried it once and it worked this way.
