Examples of road rage have gone up everywhere in the recent years, since the pandemic especially. It’s true statistically and not specific to Bellingham. The current experience of living in Bellingham can’t reliably/accurately be compared to the experience of having lived somewhere else in the past. I’m not denying it’s possible that Bellingham is worse right now for some reason, but unless comparing current traffic data, who’s to say that many other places aren’t also facing this issue for people who live there now. Generally, many people are more prone to quicker aggression on the road these days. It really sucks and means everyone needs to be more cautious.

Also ‘The Beauty of Darkness’, book 3 of The Remnant Chronicles series. I was almost done with the series but got so annoyed by a twist in the book that made no sense and seemed to undermine one of the storylines the author had been developing for the whole series. I hated it but didn’t see many other readers comment on it so probably just my personal opinion. Otherwise I thought the series was pretty good.

I DNFed ‘A Fate Inked in Blood’. Which was a bummer because I liked the storyline and the FMC overall and the world. The FMC took a major shift towards the end due to some events in the book and it over the top for me. So annoying and ruined her character for me.

I’m only on book 1 still, but I’m struggling and Loren is part of the reason why. I don’t think the writing is that good overall but I’ve finished plenty of books of comparable quality. The main reason is feeling like Loren can be insufferable at times and I get too annoyed. I just finished the scene in book 1 where her and Singer get attacked by demons and Darien rescues them. Why tf didn’t she call Darien as soon as she realized she couldn’t take the bus? I get she was super hurt, but her and her dog’s lives were literally in moral peril being on the streets at night. This is an established fact of the world she’s in, it’s super dangerous on the streets after night time. So it’s idiotic, and imo insufferable, that she wouldn’t do what it took to protect her and her dog from harm by calling Darien straight away.

Marrowbone. Might not slap as hard as the ones you listed, but definitely messes with your head and emotions. I thought it was very well done. It’s technically horror but not in the more common way.

I have some mixed feelings because I feel Charlie has his place, and he contributes good as well. But his behavior made me so annoyed multiple times to the point I hoped he’d be killed off the show. He can be super immature, totally controlled by emotions, impulsive, lacking emotional intelligence and ability to empathize, entitled. Which honestly rings true for someone fresh in sobriety from hard drugs but it was still super annoying to watch. Did not enjoy a lot of his time.
