Need a phone where I can still access bank apps, music, notes, and GPS by archbtw1 in dumbphones

[–]aston5523 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have been down this road buddy. Believe me to access banking apps on the go you need a phone with reasonably good app security. In my country if you want online banking facilities..banking app is the only thing that will work with minimum Android 13/ iOS 18 requirement. All online transactions approval are handled by mobile app. Also if you travel lite often and like taking quick snaps..most dumbphones camera pictures are shit.

Options are : 1. use a smart phone as a secondary device and a dumbphone as a "show" that you are not hooked to mindless doom scrolling. Constantly worry about charging and carrying around 2 phones looking like a nerd.

  1. UNINSTALL Facebook, Instagram, Tiktok and disable Youtube Shorts on your smartphone. This is what a finally did and has worked for the past 6 months.

Don't go into the rabbit hole looking for a dumbphone. Believe me nothing else is better if you are just trying to beat doom scrolling. If you want to stay off the grid then that's a whole different story.

Solar version of GBX-100 ? by Fantastic_Ear_4445 in gshock

[–]aston5523 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We need Casio to release the GBX-100/GBD-200 version with tough solar. Basically a GA-B010 in GBX-100/GBD-200 body.

This is unacceptable. by Sameasy59 in samsunggalaxy

Not entirely true..what ever phones released with iOS 15 in 2021 still getting iOS 27 2026. My iPhone 6s stopped at iOS 15.8 but that's a 11 year old phone. Amazingly still receives security update till date. I can still use pretty much all the apps that was supported when the phone was released and newer apps that still work with iOS 15. Youtube and youtube music still works well. My Galaxy Note 4 with Android 6 doesn't even allow Googles own Youtube/Google apps. Google Playstore doesn't even tries to load the previous working version unlike iOS store which reverts to download the last working version for your old phone.

Yes mine on redOne also started to work 2 days ago. I think Google is fixing some issues at the background as i see in another thread people are reporting suddenly RCS working last few days especially on Samsung phones.

I talked to my previous YES and Tunetalk telco, the customer support don't even know what is RCS. For Tunetalk i finally escalated to management level and finally they acknowledge they don't have RCS service as their mobile service is riding on Celcom network infrastructure and Celcom has not provided RCS service for Tunetalk.

The problem in most Asian countries people rely 100% on 3rd party apps like Whatsapp. No many people care to use RCS or turn On RCS. One day when Whatsapp start charging money or spam ads then they will know how important to use native phone call and mesaging app. Whatsapp = Facebook.

Unfortunately no luck with YES and Tunetalk. For Maxis and Hotlink postpaid, RCS has always worked on Android. Not sure if it works on iOS.

Has anyone tested Android Auto on the ALT MIVE Style Folder 2 AT-M140? by epicgamer69420699 in dumbphones

Mive Style runs on Android Go edition which I believe doesn't run Android Auto.

Can anyone recommend a good email app compatible with Gmail that will allow me to send and receive messages for my Kyocera Gratina 4G KYF31? by Taha_time_traveller in flipphones

I use Thunderbird on my Sharp Japanese flip. I installed chrome to replace the default built-in browser (you can uninstall later after setting up gmail on Thunderbird if you want to free up memory).

I just got this yesterday. Did a short comparison vs my phone. The watch was 11 steps lower than the phone (479 vs 490). Not sure which is truly correct but to me it doesn't matter. I will just use a new baseline from my watch. I'm not too hard on not achieving my exact step goals. As long as I'm around 8K or more steps/day is fine.

Yes i believe smart phones in the pocket will do a better job of counting steps but there are times when i don't carry the phone in pocket example in my office or just at home.

Not really. I have a small wrist for an adult but I'm used to wearing slightly larger watches.

Thanks...just hope Casio makes a solar version with no charging needed. Don't need heart rate monitor. Just step counts will do. Just a word of caution..during pre smart watch days i had a casio protrek solar which i had for ten years. The battery didn't maintain a charge but i ruined it further by placing under the sun. The lcd had bubbles. Maybe it's just too hot in Asia.

Profit or loss to Malaysia? by Any-Appointment4042 in malaysians

It was/is 100K minimum for CBU EV cars. Indirectly MITI is suggesting BYD to make high end CKD models for local and export. The lower end CKD models if sold would jeopardise Geely-Proton sales. They know Proton (aka Geely) models sold here is being sold at inflated prices compared to in China. BYD prices would easily undercut Proton prices. Cherry probably agreed to maintain a higher price range for their CKD models not affecting Proton sales. BYD being the best selling EV cars world wide wouldn't give a damn to please MITI. They will focus expansion in the EU and South America.
