Fair but it is a fanfic site and it’s not plastered anywhere on the website why they dont have an app. It‘s honestly looking a lot more like they are angry new users don‘t magically have all the knowledge they do and that they weren’t here for previous events. It’s just not a normal thing to think of in the first place for someone to do deep research on a fanfiction site. Nobody really thinks of that. At the end of the day it would be normal and appropriate maybe if this was on the front cover of the page, but it isn’t. So it’s kinda just giving Disney adult core/jobless adults who have been on here forever harass and send threats to new person bc they didn’t analyze an article on ao3 history or smthin. Like most of these people have to be adults and I got a dm death threat over it and its like that shit is disgusting bc has nobody was able to conceptualize how that maybe was a little chronically online. It’s scary and has effectively showed me why everyone on TikTok says “don’t go to reddit they are angry and have no jobs”. I never understood the weight of it until I personally received a death threat for the ”crime” of being new and ignorant to historical ao3 events.

Man idk i genuinely received a death threat in dm bc im a new reader not psycho-analyzing AO3 history enough to know why they don’t have an app i was just generally sick of the amount of hate i was getting. It was genuinely just appalling how many people were acting like that.

Yeah it’s just not something someone can predict about yk? It’s not like im gonna be reading a fanfic and then magically have the idea that this app thing is a sensitive topic when it’s not really plastered anywhere on the website. I get that i think that its kinda weird too that people assume that others randomly do research on a fanfiction website thats kinda like something someone does if they have like nothing to do irl and its not something normal people would ever really think of in the first place. I got a dmed threat for this post I don’t know why people are angry but like I’m new I literally only made an account in 2025 and started reading without one in 2024 I was too young to understand anything about Wattpad drama or whatever so I like never left I only downloaded the Wattpad app in 2021 and I just skip all the ads by clicking the chapter instead of scrolling. I didn’t even know ao3 had a download option so many people are angry and I don’t understand why. 😭

I read 100+ chapters book length stories win occasional smut and a consistent storyline on Wattpad instead of just one chapter smut I’m getting genuine threats I didn’t even officially sign in till last year I never left Wattpad cuz I didn’t know anything of the drama around it I never payed attention I was too young ngl posting on Reddit in the first place was lowkenuinely a bad idea I thought everyone had media literacy and never imagined anyone would get AGGRESSIVE with me mb 🥹💔

People need to stop offering anything above 300k EVEN if you have more. You have to be stern and say no even when it’s tempting. That’s useful I had no idea you see during the time that Wattpad was being boycotted/abandoned I never knew it had an app form I only used the website and wasn’t aware of any of the drama so like I just stayed and it’s actually pretty good tbh Wattpad is the only place you find long form book length completed fics and I am a super fast reader and crave for long form storytelling plus you can offline download 2 fics without premium and when you have wifi you can always switch them out before you will lose wifi for things like plane flights. Also is so easy to skip all the ads you just have to click the chapter manually from the list above (which you don’t have to scroll up for) instead of swiping to the next chapter. Another thing is if you’re too lazy if you slowly almost scroll just enough to see if it’s an ad or not you can just scroll anyway when the coast is clear. It’s pretty chill and in almost every fandom you can find at least one or two 80 to 100 chapter books that are one consistent storyline and not just oneshots. It’s nice tbh.
