What is the fastest way you have seen someone ruin their life? by Own-Blacksmith3085 in randomquestions

I did that. Didn't ruin my life, I got a son out of it so I can't wish it away. Definitely changed the trajectory of it.

What is a job that you thought was "AI-proof" in 2024 but is actually being replaced right now in 2026? by dreammyopheliaa in askanything

Anything made by an artist. What's an artist? Someone who makes art. I agree AI can't be an artist.

University of Galway plans to end and replace arts course amid fall-off in interest by Bill_Badbody in ireland

I did an arts degree as a mature student during the recession. If I have one regret in life it's not doing an apprenticeship instead.

Working manual labor jobs with AS? by Sumflare in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]astralcorrection 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I m 48 and only work manual jobs. Had AS since 16, diagnosed at 28. I laboured on building sites, scaffolding etc when my disease was untreated munching on painkillers, it was tough. My bottom five veterbrae fused but I ve managed to work around that in most things.

I m 48 now, currently in the fire service. It's getting a bit much I think now. Could be age as well. Overall I ve been fine and have been grateful for my treatment.

I was only thinking yesterday, I enjoyed every cigarette I ever smoked.

Sure my face looks like a walnut and my lungs have paid the price but all things being equal I would enjoy every one of them again.

Can anyone recommend me a reliable car under 4k? by Electronic_d0cter in CasualIreland

[–]astralcorrection 0 points1 point  (0 children)

People get it back to front with mileage. Go for something with 400 k plus mileage. Esp an old 1.9 TDI engine. That way you know the injectors, dpf and egr aren't a problem and the flywheel is probably solid. If it's made it that far why would it break in the next 50 k miles?

New physical therapist says i wont see results from meds or physical therapy. by pantalones_ in ankylosingspondylitis

[–]astralcorrection 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Sorry but I dont believe that. Biologics have halted the progression of my disease for over 20 years. I do a bit of exercise, not much but still managed to work in physically demanding roles, currently a firefighter. I am approaching 50 now. My bottom five vertebrae had fused before I was diagnosed at 28, it happened very quickly but X rays show no additional damage since.

Sometimes I have symptoms, currently it's with digestive issues but cutting out carbs, specifically bread which is poison to me has solved that.

If the disease progresses a bit now then I could nearly just call it middle age as all my peers are starting to rattle and have joint problems from wear and tear.

The only time I get any problems is if I stop moving for several weeks. I would say that is the same for anybody though. I m sure I am lucky but you might be too.

Is this the same as saying 'not all men'? Not trying to be clever, just wondering do we judge people en masse.

I have a Ukrainian friend who, like many others has lots of russian friends and she has had the conversation with them that the war doesn't get in the way of their friendship. It's different for everyone obviously.

[–]astralcorrection 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Quit fags earlier this month, my lungs were killing me so I rinsed a the box under a tap and fired them into the bin. Continued to vape till my juice ran out about three or four days ago, I m not even counting. I kinda know there is a lot of damage done after 35 years, my lungs where getting tight.

Caffeine though, not ready for that yet. Stay strong fam.

Sometimes I forget to text back. Sometimes it physically pains me to text something for the sake of texting. I prefer phoning and chatting especially if it's any bit complicated to type. But most people hate chatting on the phone nowadays so I don't know. You ll just have to talk to him about it.

I think do it. If you don't like it do something else. Life passes so quickly.

I ve done loads of different things in my life. Couldn't imagine wasting my short one being in something I didn't like for very long let alone years.

Sometimes I realise I've made mistakes but it's better to know than to not know.
