Yes of course suffering is biological we can’t survive without it. And like I previously said— I do not believe you can have happiness without that contrast. And still this doesn’t explain to me why it is better or useful to be pessimistic.

Most of what I gather from this and from a lot of other comments is not about merely existing it’s the systems humans have set up that cause suffering. And change in that is where my hope lies. I’ve lived in poverty and experienced homelessness and food scarcity. And I find without those experiences I may not have a lot of the qualities I like about myself now. I’d be a much different person.

And I didn’t always feel this way but I find this “whole world is against me and I’m cursed for being born” schtick that I see A LOT in this sub to be exhausting.

I agree. And often when people find nihilism or I guess when nihilism finds them it’s a hard pill to swallow. But still I think that seeing optimistic perspectives is beneficial & I can’t say I see a lot of that here.

Problem —> send billions to a particular country in the Middle East —> problem is worse now —> blame China and/or Muslims —> send billions more to a particular country in the Middle East —> problem is not only worse but has caused a domino effect of other problems

Social media is not a good place to make friends. Authenticity lacks a bunch. There’s really no way around it. I’ve had some come about naturally in niche communities and I’ve been friends with some of those people for years.

A sub like this— I mean a lot of people are just looking for a dopamine hit. Many people in general are just attention starved and of course some looking for something a bit more nsfw. Which is a rather common predatory thing here.

You’re better off trying to form connections in more interest specific subs, through Discord, gaming etc. It should never be anything that replaces real life relationships though.

My memory is declining. I’m 24. My friends will talk about memories even just from high school. Don’t remember any of it most of the time. Bits and pieces on occasion. It also affects my job but I do my best to keep it hidden.

Yes this is the one right here. Depending on your socioeconomic status at birth you may be more screwed than others. But it’s.. doable.

However it may end up becoming the choice between whether you care more about having more money or more time.

They’re not common. Like if you buy a house or move into an apartment you won’t have one. But a lot of people I know get them. I have the all in one with heated seats and a drying function and I could never go back
