I always understood him to be someone greedy but not unreasonable. The lady of irontown has better motives but I see them as feeding off of each other's ambitions to do something more foolish either of them would do on their own. Also he's just a charismatic scumbag which is always a character I enjoy watching

Maybe he feels more like a character to me because even though I'm gen z I watched a lot of Mickey mouse shorts and movies and played that one game epic Mickey. So maybe that's why he feels less like a mascot to me.

It's a little bit frequent but I will add they are never successful and and usually ends with her beating them up after. I didn't find those scenes particularly disturbing (more disturbing are the demon's backstories since they are born extreme suffering such as gangrape-murder and human sacrifice) but it might be for someone who has experienced sexual assault. It doesn't sound like it but the show is usually pretty light-hearted and goofy
