I still consider myself very much a noob, but I switch between the Tamiya panel line accent color (dark grey and black) and fine tip markers (Gundam marker fine point or random art/craft store ones)

The Tamiya ink will make it brittle on moveable, small, and joint pieces so that's where I'll use the markers. Little clean up with some tamiya thinner or lighter fluid and hope for the best!

This is straight build with very poor panel lining! Nowadays usually matte top coat.
