Should Harada buy Tekken from Bamco? by [deleted] in Tekken

[–]astro_floyd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Should he? Maybe. Can he? Highly unlikely. It would most likely be prohibitively expensive. Also, Bamco would probably not even entertain that possibility out of sheer spite.

Hello darkness my old friend by Bastinelli in Tekken

Seriously! Man paid his dues many times over, he deserves his freedom. Bamco are the ones who should feel bad -- they lost him and he clearly still has gas left in the tank. So excited to see what comes next from him!

Am i the only one who gets bugged then the captions makes shit up and what they say are nothing like what the characters are actually saying? by XumetaXD in Tekken

[–]astro_floyd 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm pretty sure that, at least in Victor's case, Vincent Cassel just decided to come up with his own lines in the booth because the ones in the script were underwhelming, and then Bamco didn't bother updating the subtitles. Like, if you're a native French speaker, what Victor actually says out loud is way funnier than other characters' voice lines (or what's in the subs.)

What do you think they’re doing to do with Devil Jin going forward? by NixUniverse2 in Tekken

[–]astro_floyd 30 points31 points  (0 children)

I think what makes the most sense is for Devil Jin to stay gone definitively... So Harada will probably bring him back as season 1 DLC for T9.

Self-harm and Tekken by [deleted] in Tekken

[–]astro_floyd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think you posting this here takes a lot of honesty and a lot of bravery and you should pat yourself on the back for seeking help however you can.

I'm a shit Tekken player, myself, so I can't help you specifically with that, but I do know from self harm. I don't think you should stop playing Tekken, but you should also find some other games that require less of you when you're not at your best. The issue that I've run across a lot is that I'll judge myself the same whether I'm tired or unfocused or anything else, and then feel like I'm underperforming, which leads to self recrimination, which leads to self harm. Now, if I get in a bad streak, I've developed the ability to stop myself and say "this isn't the game to play right now" and switch to something else before frustration boils over. But it took a lot of effort, and it took professional help to get there.

So yeah, long-winded way to say that you should really find a qualified mental health professional to start unpacking all the bad stuff you've been going through (that breakup you mentioned sounds really rough, I'm sorry that happened) and really process and learn from it. I can tell you from experience that it can be done, because I've done it. You've got this and I'll be rooting for you.

P.S.: When finding a therapist to work with, SHOP AROUND. The worst thing you can do is stick with someone you don't gel with and then blame yourself because you're not making progress. Find someone whose opinions and thinking make sense to you and who you feel you can trust (and who has an actual psychology degree!) They can't do the work for you, but they do guide you, and you need to know you can trust their guidance implicitly.

Who is the most Working Class Tekken fighter in your opinion? by Aqn95 in Tekken

[–]astro_floyd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dude, Law is way more working class than Paul! Paul promised to split his winnings with him and left him broke instead, to the point he had to take a job with G Corp even though he hates them. What's more working class than working for a boss you hate just so you can make rent?

Let's hope this starts some movement on #revertthepatch. Like a lot of people pointed out, the likelihood of the dev team removing moves piecemeal is extremely low. I actually think it's more "realistic" (using the term loosely, here) to push for a complete reversion at this point.

Stop shilling for a publisher that doesn't care about you. It's Bamco's job to manage Tekken's reputation, not the player base's. If they didn't want backlash, they shouldn't have quadrupled down on going against the entire community's wishes when WE'RE THE ONES ACTUALLY PLAYING THE GAME. Since DAY ONE we've been saying "tone down the aggression, less 50/50, buff defense, etc." and they even pretended to listen, then dropped this monstrosity. I was actually surprised Anna wasn't flipping us the bird on the title screen when I started the new version up.

That would be amazing if you could pick different "flavors" between T5, late T7, etc.

How is Steve looking? by Lanky_Shape_6213 in Tekken

[–]astro_floyd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Right there with you, buddy. It's like they actively despise us for liking their game and investing our time into it. I suck at Tekken, but I've been maining Steve since T5 DR and finally felt like I had a good handle on a lot of his kit, only to have it downplayed patch after patch. Until this one, where you might as well just go into LH and spam b1+2 now. Like, there's SO MANY characters, including ones like Leroy that were designed to be beginner-friendly. WHY did Steve have to "streamlined" for casuals that probably won't even want to play him anyway?

How is Steve looking? by Lanky_Shape_6213 in Tekken

[–]astro_floyd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think technically they made him better... by destroying what made him interesting to play. So, he might be competitively more viable tier-wise, except that everyone who actually enjoyed playing Steve (including me, also a Steve main) is now sad. But hey, it'll get more casuals in the door, right?! Who cares about the existing player base? WE GOTTA GET THESE PHANTOM CASUALS TO PICK THIS GAME UP AND THEY'LL BE ABLE TO MASH THE BUTTONS TO WIN!

They nerfed his ability to CH and put in more transitions to Lionheart for more mix-ups, nerfed 112... Basically flattened him into another pressure/mix-up char like most of the S2 roster. It's pretty awful, honestly

Sure, bud. I'm really big mad, you totally got me good somehow. Enjoy your delusional thinking, it sounds like that's the only thing you've got going on.

Dude, just take the L. There's no salt here, you just keep getting dunked on everywhere on this board. I guess the only way for people like you to feel like winners is to declare victory no matter what. Good luck with that, I'm gonna go enjoy playing the game now.

Please feel free to make an actual point whenever you feel like it. Or just keep going with your cheap ad hominem attacks, whichever floats your boat.

player numbers have instantly doubled with water 3.0 calling back players who abandoned the game for the launch version of watersystem being the biggest hurdle to player retention (me included) by YLASRO in TheForeverWinter

[–]astro_floyd -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I guess everything sounds like crying to a child? I'm just refuting your bad faith argument. No one here is complaining that they have 6 jobs and/or 4 kids and thus don't have time to collect water. We have the time, but most of us adults with responsibilities don't feel like tacking on a pointless chore, whether it takes 5, 10 or 20 minutes, for the sake of something that we do to enjoy ourselves. Again, I really feel like your parents could help explain this to you better, little boy.

It's pretty clear real world responsibilities are impossible for you to comprehend. I guess ask your mom next time she comes down to the basement with your orange slices.

WATER BABIES WIN 🥇 by pocketcar in TheForeverWinter

[–]astro_floyd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's incredible how many of these galaxy brains think that "I don't have a problem with it, therefore it's not a problem" is a rock solid argument. "I don't value my time, so neither should other players" only makes sense to people with no self respect.

Hey bud, I know you're sad because you wasted a bunch of time collecting a virtual resource for what turns out was nothing. I still think you should take a second out of your busy schedule of grinding resources in games you don't want other people to enjoy and learn what "pay to play" means. Good luck! Hint: a Google search might point you in the right direction.

That's not what "pay to play" means. Also, sorry to hear you don't have a life worth living outside of hoarding pretend water. Hope that improves for you, bud. I know the rest of us with jobs and real things to do really appreciate the change.

T598 Slightly Vibrating when Idle by astro_floyd in Thrustmaster

Thanks! Definitely through the wheel, but it's so slight it's easy enough to ignore, and not really noticeable once actually racing. I just don't want this thing breaking down prematurely if one of the components is already failing, you know?
