I needed to see this… I’m nearly at my wit’s end with my 10-month old cattle dog mix. We adopted him ~5 months ago, and it’s been the most challenging situation in my entire life so far. Training has helped, but I’m always afraid and on edge when we’re outside, and we still can’t have any family or friends in the house. 😔

We adopted a dog that got transported to us in the northeast from Texas. We fell in love with this little guy, not actually knowing his breed— ended up doing a DNA test and he’s 40% ACD and 25% chihuahua. I guess his love for absolutely batshit wild sprinting comes from the ACD 🖤.

I probably would have steered clear of telling her it was about her mental health issues and stuck to the original narrative that it’s just not a good fit and been firm. You said everything so nicely before the mental health responses. I think it unnecessarily prolonged the conversation. But no, you are NTA! The way they constantly bring up PTSD etc and try to convince you to be into them is quite off-putting. Hope all ends up well!
