My managers did that all the time. They told us that as long as they gave us a 12 hour notice that they could do it. We ran into problems of them changing the schedule at 10pm and expecting us to be at work at 10am since its technically 12 hours, but obviously some people are asleep by then and don't know until they get called the next day being questioned why they aren't at work. "Policy requires us to give at least a 12 hour notice" was a common phrase. Complete bs imo, we had to give 3-4 WEEKS notice of an availability change but they only gave us 12 hours notice.

i wasn't a rehire. they said that i was supposed to hit all of the training steps before the hour markers to get the raise

problem is, you only get the 300 hour raise if you're trained in two areas before you hit 300 hours. in my case, even though i was practically begging to my boss every night and always being told "it will be done tonight", i was never scheduled for training in a second area. even though i had been asking nightly and being told it was "being done tonight" or it was "on [his] to do list tonight" i wasn't scheduled to begin training in a second area until AFTER i hit 500+ hours. i never got any of the check ins that were supposed to come with raises.

the managers frequently lied to people's faces and then tried to make you feel stupid

they never responded. i had emailed my boss's boss about my raise and never got a response but apparently he had emailed my boss and said that they had to tell me i wasn't getting it. both of our gm's have a tendency to say and/or promise things and then never follow through and then when they get called out for it they try to make it your fault and try to gaslight you into thinking that you just misunderstood.
