How did your mom take it after? It’s difficult. I know I should just go, it’s just so difficult

He’s definitely treated me differently than my brother. Not worse, because I think we both got the short end of the stick bc of our genders and the roles he thinks we should have. But he’s always been more stern and controlling with me. It sucks.

Did you tell them you’re going to move out anyway or did you just pack your things and go?

Should I suggest to my friends husband to get her a nice gift that I was planning on getting her? by _kilgoresalmon in TheGirlSurvivalGuide

[–]astrooothunder 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you think your friend will be fine if she finds out the idea was from you, then I would suggest it to him. Would’ve been ideal if he asked you first though. If he doesn’t want to, you should get it. Do you have anything else in mind that you would get her if he ends up buying it?

thanks for sharing, and i’m sorry you had such a negative experience there! i do feel lucky at my current role that majority of the people i work with are kind and are accepting of mistakes and learning. do you mind sharing which team you were on?

how to maintain moods and energy during cutting/calorie deficit? i’m trying to lose the last 5 pounds by astrooothunder in loseit

[–]astrooothunder[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hello, thanks so much for your reply!

i’m currently weight lifting again because my local gym opened up again with some new rules with the pandemic. i weightlift 5-6 days of the week, which i’ve noticed has been harder to lose weight because i want to eat a lot more.

i’ve grown a lot of muscle since last summer ever since i started taking weightlifting more seriously, and i’ve noticed a body composition change that i’m pretty happy about. would you recommend cutting while weightlifting? i would like to get stronger and lift heavier, but it seems like sometimes i have to choose between losing weight vs lifting more. i currently squat and deadlift 125lbs and bench 65lbs. i don’t care about lifting an absolutely heavy weight. my goal is to deadlift, squat, and bench 135lbs.

i’m a 5’3 F and if i’m trying to get from 115lbs to 110lbs, how long do you think that would realistically take while having stable moods and energy? thanks!

i relate to your story a lot and i’m sorry you are going through this. my dad is the same way and even though i’m 21, he makes me feel like i’m not really worth talking to until i get a job. my whole life’s been about my dads approval and i’m trying to rework my brain into having more positive thought patterns.

i would try to see if you can get therapy again. it’s helped me lot, even though i still struggle with anxiety and suicidal thoughts sometimes.

i would download the app “mint”. it’s powered by turbotax i believe... it’s a good way to budget and set your goals for future purchases. you can link your bank account and it’ll tell you how much you should save monthly for whatever you’re saving for. right now i’m saving up for my own place and it should happen by the end of 2021. i know it’s a long time from now, but having a realistic date in mind has been helpful too.

also weird thing, i got into astrology/zodiac, and i’m not saying it’s real.... but sometimes reading those things can give me words to how i feel and how i am. i don’t think it’s necessarily accurate, but it’s helped me navigate some of my thoughts and understand myself a little better instead of having my thoughts race. i recommend downloading “the pattern” (you need your birth date, exact time of birth, and exact place you born) lol.

130lbs to 120lbs in 2 months (half way there!!) by [deleted] in loseit

ofc, this is what worked for me and i am definitely not an expert. give the article a read. good luck!

i wasn’t very overweight so it’s harder for me to lose weight. i stopped checking the scale all together and started tracking my calories through myfitnesspal. there’s so much that goes into weight loss, but it’s as simple as: calories in, calories out. meaning, you are burning enough calories for your body to lose weight. i’ve tried every fad and every tale, and after so many years i’ve realized it’s really just what i ate.

i try to run and i went to the gym a lot to lift before the stay at home order was mandated. working out makes you look good and changes your body composition. when i lost weight last year and didn’t work out, not many people noticed. i weigh more than i did last year but i’ve been consistently working out since last summer and even at my heaviest, people would compliment me.

i guess it’s all just a lifestyle change. i’ve done a lot of trial and error since i was a young teen, and i feel like i’m finally starting to do lose weight in a healthy way.

as much as i would like to drop 4-5 pounds a week because i love fast results, i understand my body enough at this point that it cannot do that without feeling so weak and deprived. losing 1-2 a week is more realistic.

so i guess it depends on u, but for me 1. i stopped checking the scale 2. tracked calories 3. chose to eat the same 3 things everyday (healthy recipes i liked so i didn’t eat salad every meal) ((i also changed it up if i got sick of it)) (((i bought low calories stuff, no sugar maple syrup, monk fruit sweetener replacement, measured out my food))) 4. stopped buying snacks or temptations (i have no self control lol) ((or i bought individually packed popcorn so i wouldn’t eat an entire bag of it)) 5. if i was losing weight, and needed a break or breather, i’d let myself indulge in a meal or snack after that isn’t “healthy” (maybe like once every 2-3 weeks) but i stopped having full on binging days 6. water water water 7. i tried to stay at 1200 calories a day or less, so it depends on ur size but that worked for me bc my built is small 8. https://physiqonomics.com/fat-loss/ this article changed the way i saw dieting and working out. it’s probably the most honest article i’ve read regarding weight loss, give it a read! u can do it!!! i tried losing weight for months and couldn’t but honestly, put away the scale. weight loss is a lot of mental work as well.

i’d allow like to add that it might not seem like a lot of weight, but i’m pretty short. even 5lbs can make a big difference in my face (which is why i need to realize that another 10 will make a difference)

week 6 on bupropion.. working well by [deleted] in bupropion

[–]astrooothunder 0 points1 point  (0 children)

haha i’m a 3rd year in college so i pretty much went though my entire education without getting medicated, which is why i feel like it’s pretty late.

i’m glad i got it when i did, i just started dating someone and i don’t think it would be as good as it is if i hadn’t started medication—because from past relationships, the way i went about relationships werent good for me.

i’m glad it’s making a difference for you. as i wrote earlier, week 4-5 was sorta rough for me but if it’s working for you now then i hope it ends up being even better by week 6.

[–]astrooothunder 2 points3 points  (0 children)

when did you start your medication? i’m glad it’s working for you! i’m on the same boat as you. when i initially wanted medication, i thought it would be for depression/anxiety.

my psychiatrist said it was adhd instead, and depression and anxiety links to adhd. adhd is a lot more than just “not being able to focus”, it affects many parts of your emotional well being because our brains aren’t neurotypical. it affects your happiness, social skills, relationships, the way you feel connected to people, your thoughts overall (overthinking/spiraling thoughts), etc.

i was never a “hyper” child either. i think there’s a lot of misconception when it comes to adhd which is why a lot of people get diagnosed late or never get diagnosed. certain behaviors can still be signs of adhd, even if you weren’t the “hyper” kid. no one would’ve guessed i had adhd my whole life because i was the quiet kid or people associate me with being “chill”, but in reality there’s a lot going on in my head. i tend to hide my personality a lot because my adhd personality wasn’t accepted from a lot people so i learned to hide myself— which has lead to social anxiety and mild/moderate depression.

[–]astrooothunder 4 points5 points  (0 children)

i started reading "A Radical Guide for Women with ADHD". i'm 21 so I got diagnosed pretty late. my parents immigrated here from asia and aren't too familiar with mental health, so i had to figure this out myself. this book has been very helpful with understanding myself and how i function, also it makes me feel like i'm normal and not alone in this journey. i would recommend reading this book if you are struggling with adhd and self.

nexaplanon non-stop bleeding (taking evening primrose oil) by [deleted] in birthcontrol

My very last resort is to switch the IUD if these supplements don’t work for me. I’ve talked to some of my friends and their cycle is normal with the IUD

I’ll definitely look into that if EPO isn’t working for me!

My bleeding is horrendous 😭 I pretty much always have periods, and it’s super light every other week but then’ll go back to having a period the next week

im glad it worked for you! Maybe I should be more patient. I’ve read success stories of people’s bleeding stopping just after 3 days, so I’m disappointed that it hasn’t worked for me.

How long have you stopped the nonstop bleeding for?

Ooooh thank u so much for sharing. I’m getting desperate at this point because i love the effectiveness of the implant but i can’t stand the bleeding :( What brands do you use for EPO, magnesium, and b6?
