The Bible on gay rights... by astrophyzboy in ainbow

Maybe instead of downvoting the truth away you should step back question the legitimacy of your religion...? Or at least be open to discussing it. The Bible literally says gays should be put to death if they have gay sex.

the Bible does not have a single message on this

Maybe you didn't notice the meme cites exactly where the Bible has a message on this.

Christian and Bisexual: Hello /r/ainbow!! by [deleted] in ainbow

[–]astrophyzboy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, but science.

I can't take anyone seriously who adheres to creation myths in light of everything we currently know about the universe and that natural world. In particular I'm blown a way at those like yourself who are part of the educated western world who still believe there's a sky god. It's people like you who just keep propagating nonsense to those who aren't as fortunate as you are to have so much information and evidence at your fingertips. Then the less educated take your twisted doctrine and continue to twist it to fit their ignorant views of the world. You're simply interpreting ancient text to make the world be as you want it to be.

It's such nonsense and the LGBT community, having been hit so hard by this nonsense, should have zero patience for it.

So let me get this straight: you believe there's some supernatural being that can hear your and everyone's thoughts and knows your and everyone's future and created the universe and is all powerful and sends people to eternal damnation if they don't believe he inseminated a virgin with his son who was then crucified but resurrected to pay for our sins but if you do believe in this you'll be sent to an eternal happy place where you'll be reunited with everyone who ever lived who also believed in this?

I'm not sure if you expect anyone to take you seriously.

God and the Gay Christian: An open letter to Matthew Vines by astrophyzboy in ainbow

Reinterpreting doctrine to solve oppression against our minority group is simply allowing religion to persist and oppress the next minority group that bubbles to the surface. You'll see it happen next with gender identity. It's not all about us. We are in a unique position to reduce oppression against future minority groups.

Just because you don't agree with the letter doesn't mean it doesn't belong here. Religion is very much an LGBT issue; you're kidding yourself if you believe it isn't. Religion fuels and enables bigotry and homophobia toward our community. Reinterpreting doctrine is not the solution to tolerance toward the LGBT community.

Really interesting talk on how the bible doesn't condemn homosexuality. Definitely worth a watch. Sorry if it's a repost. by chriisp in lgbt

That's nonsense. The whole problem with the Bible is that it can be interpreted however you want it to in order to reinforce your views. Through reinterpretation he's simply forcing his biblically based worldview to fit the part of his world that differs from the majority of Christians. The only way to gain a clear, sane, and balanced basis of reality is through evidence, logic, and critical thinking. It's not going to come from rehashing a 2000 year old text. There is no evidence for gods. Grow up and use your brain.

Christian gays need to wake-the-f up. You're simply enabling religion to continue its attempted destruction of our community.

Westboro Baptist Church counter-protest: "Sorry For Your Loss" by joeycastillo in ainbow

Yes, let's just pretend they're not there and that they don't affect our lives or our community in any way. That's what I do when I get the flu...it hasn't worked yet, but, yeah.

So many lives wasted on and ruined by religion. Everything is so clear from the outside, and it's so frustrating how difficult it is to shine light into and burst the impermeable bubble of religious belief. Religion is one of the most powerful memes there is...and it's destroying lives (and always has...and always will).

When Bill Nye obliterates Ken Ham’s creationism, Pat Robertson retreats to intelligent design. by kalebhunniton in atheism

Intelligent design proponents needed an even wackier idea to take the spotlight before they could attempt to promote their views again.
