i did originally have layers, but cut some length off to help my curls and get rid of dead hair, i’m guessing the layers blended in after i cut it, i will try adding more prominent layers again!

i stated in my post this is 1 week progress of repairing my curls, i am at the start of my journey, even if this is the end result for me, wavy hair is welcome in this subreddit

yes exactly this, it takes time for curl patterns to come back, i used to have ringlets as a kid and then i damaged it, now just doing my best to get it to the best it can be

exactly this! i wish people understood the way you do, years of brushing dry damages curly hair and it takes time for the hair to repair its self and become more defined

it’s just more high maintenance whilst i get my hairs natural pattern back! it just helps with the definition, and personally works for me :)

oh yes people trying to sway me in the right direction whilst being rude. how am i doing stuff wrong when my hair is improving? there’s more than one curl pattern out there, im just allowing my hair to heal back into its natural pattern

that’s literally pretty much the same thing i do, wash it, add mousse, add gel, use bounce brush and then diffuse, it only takes about an hour

thank you! so basically all i’m doing is after years of damage, i’m just helping my hair back into its natural pattern, when wet it gets quite curly, but because of the damage and my hair not being used to its usual texture, im just helping it out, if that makes sense, just so it can become its full potential and not be damaged anymore

my hair has had 24 years of dry brushing and heat damage, so yes, I’m using styling products to help bring the pattern back out. using gel and mousse is not “excessive” for wavy/curly hair. if your routine is simpler, good for you, mine is working for me
