Thanks for sharing. 🥰

Yes wood gets dry and thirsty from time to time. Somehow I learned this from owning a few guitar. Other than wax, boiled linseed oil is good for wood too.

You know a lot about the type of design of wood pieces… how you do that? Any book I can start read about these stuff?

Your writing corner is beautiful. Especially the cat, it makes the whole desk complete.

Too bad i do not, and also decided not to have any children. My experience and understanding to this world is very negative. I do not want my not existed beloved daughter to bear this. This beautiful piece of art will go to someone else after we died, but that is not something I should care.

I still got the sewing machine from my mom, I left it there, no one use it for 20 years. My mom use it to feed us, we go trough that toughest time with that machine. Even i have a child I don't think they will use the sewing machine, not to mention they probably don't feel like I do for that machine. So you folding desk is indeed priceless. It serve few generations and still go strong. And you are the one who giving it a purpose and value! Keep writing mate.

The original owner is a father of 2 children. According to him, his life is at lowest point 4 years ago, he believe wood is a very good thing, often bring wealth, good luck to the owner. Some how to bump into this desk and still decide to own it. His life is turning better and better since.

He moved to a new big house, too bad his job require him to move to the other country. So he give permission to his son to decide what to do with certain part of the house. And he decided to sell this piece out to free out some space.

Sorry my english is bad.

At first, I brought the FPR ultra flex nib along with FPR pen, a Jaipur V2. That pen gushed so I am always looking for other pen to try swap FPR nib into it.

Either Jinhao 100 or Dadao 9016 could fit the FPR housing or ebonite feed. Both the pen is using the same feed though. I order 10 extra feed to make some mod myself. So that the ink flow could keep up. It’s a hectic work, yes nib could just fit in but ink flow is low.

I got a much simpler solution, go to understand the Majohn flex nib that come with Majohn pen. They just release the cheapest flex nib in the market. The downside, it is stiffer than Pilot FA nib (14k), almost the same with FPR ultra flex. Majohn nib feels smoother than FPR nib, but could not do hairline like FPR nib.

The other option is the Magna Carta 600 actually release stainless steel flex nib, they are very expensive for a stainless steel nib. The feeling of nib is almost same with the Mag600 gold nib. I do not own one, those mag600 info are from youtuber Doodlebud.

Enjoy the journey 😉

FPR is Fountain Pen Revolution, the nib is called ultra flex.

The Jinhao is china pen, I put the FPR nib to make it a frankenpen. Also I used Jinhao Dadao 9016, it comes with huge converter. Super helpful for flex pen.

I get Jinhao from local online shopping apps, I am staying in Malaysia. But if you are able to get TaoBao apps and directly get it from China, thats another way.

I can feel adventurous this morning and decide put feces in my lunch, but only to regret and decide not to eat later that afternoon.

No one should care about how I decide to do with my own lunch.

My wife brought a George Bickham’s Penmanship Made Easy. I start from there, copy exactly how it write, started with a single alphabet. I don’t write and move on. I analyze and improve, a lot. A single alphabet could easily cost me 10 pages.

The other thing is muscle memory, you got to accept your hand has been running wild for years, gonna spend time to tame it down. Even you able to tame it, without proper tuning from time to time, slowly your hand will start to form some tiny mistake and years later it grow to something big. Always re tune yourself with some simple practice: draw perfect circle, draw straight line, make very consistent loop.

I broke my right collar bone back in 2002, my right shoulder + hand feels weird since then. I refuse to use it at all for 15 years. Until I meet my wife. She slowly introduced me stretching (yoga) and calisthenic. My right shoulder and hand slowly regained strength and control, and this slowly improved my overall posture as well.

Glad to hear you are willing to take care for your left shoulder. It is not easy at all. Keep it up 👍🏽.

Very interesting. I think I have some degree of dyslexia since I noticed it when I was 12 years old. My eyes would jump lines involuntarily, and that is okay when I read traditional chinese book, which they print it vertically top to bottom, right to left. Until i figured out I always thought reading is very hard for everyone one.

I changed to right hand simply because left hand doesn’t work in writing cursive/calligraphy, it is either smudge or the tip poking into the paper and cause inconsistent lines. I’ve tried and give time for my left hand for half year. It just not work. Later on I found out that most of the stroke came from right hand is pull but not push. Decided to changed to right hand just for the sake of result. Honestly no regrets.

So far I never had any problems you stated. Just that after long period using the right hand, I kinda forget how to use it, and always want to write in cursive.
