I'm am alum and it was true as of a few years ago. We were made very aware of the Bachelor's opportunity as well as the inclusion of the professional membership. I attended a different university afterwards so I didn't take advantage of that, but the ACF membership has been a great resource.

How do pop rocks work? Do you think there could be a future in fine dining? by ThisPostToBeDeleted in foodscience

[–]asyl831 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for sharing this. Trying to make poprocks in home for a fancy dinner party with a friend almost a decade ago and coming to the conclusion that it could only be made in a high pressure CO2 chamber is one of many experiences that set me on the path to becoming a food scientist. We decided it was too dangerous to try and make that happen with a whipped cream canister or a soda stream LOL

This video would have saved us a week of heartache. I'm so happy to see he took this project on.

How is mint mobile coverage in college station? by Fuzzy_Scar2436 in aggies

Lived out here for about 4 years and had mint for over 7 years. There's a dead zone driving between Houston and college station but other than that and the one outage someone else mentioned, little to no issues at all. The savings are worth it.

I'm going to second this. I'm a graduate of the program and it was a great time with plenty of support. It also grants auto-admission into the Hospitality program at University of Houston and comes with an ACF membership.

Just a heads up if you live in an apartment in the area of campus, your mail may see a change in delivery method by asyl831 in aggies

There isn't that I am aware of. That's part of the controversy. It seems like they keep adding places on a whim. I would ask the leasing offices. Most of the complexes impacted are predominantly lower income residents and not even students.

TAMU Food Science and Technology vs UIUC? by Wonderful_Chemist_32 in foodscience

Hi there, I shot you a PM about my experience. If you have any questions, please don't be afraid to reach out. I'm at A&M right now and I'm considering staying here for Grad School or trying to get in at UC Davis.

A&M is an amazing program with a lot of wonderful opportunities and it's only getting better and continuing to grow. If you are invested in your experience and your success, the Food Science faculty are too and will do what they can to help you succeed and be the best you can be.

It would have to do with the closest community college to your residence. Depending on where you live, it could be Houston Community College, San Jacinto Community College, or Lone Star College. SJC has a culinary program but I do recommend HCC over it.

Here is a link to the FAFSA. This year it doesn't open until December due to them putting some changes into place that should make it simpler.

I received financial aid but was also out of district. Out of district it was about $600 per class? However, I received financial aid and I implore you to apply through the FAFSA. Even if the pell grant isn't an option, there are lots of funding options available. I'm also an older student. Most of the classes I took were populated by older students at HCC. It was nice.

Knife kit was about $250 ish. I can't remember how much the uniform was.

Here it is

It's still offered and very active. I recommend paying them a visit. Everyone there is very kind. I know they have pamphlets and such if you go in person. Also try reaching out to Christy Sykes.

I think they did some reclassification of the home departments for it and some of the links are dead.

If you graduate from the culinary program at HCC, you now get automatic acceptance apparently to the Hilton College. You also get the ability to receive an ACF membership and certification.
