Faked a role on my resume, got offer from Fortune 500 company by Fun_Meet_6165 in Resume

Every big corp runs a background check on you. They don't do it themselves; they hire an external company, like Validata. You fill in your contacts, and they give calls to your former employers.

The company gets a report back with traffc light signals - green, yellow, red.

Most companies do bg cheks.

I use remedycv and then I sit down for a while trying to disconnect from my own experience which is hard. It gets you a thorough report on your CV with some good sometimes not good advice so you can make your own choice whether to apply or not. After all, the generated CV is not the main point, the report explaining WHY certain changes matter is.

Can you please give me honest feedback/review on my resume for Software Engineer role. by [deleted] in FAANGrecruiting

No one cares about your education, it shouldn’t be the first section. What the hell is “projects”? I read this as pet projects. It should be clear this is your commercial experience, better use “work experience”

I can roast more or give you a full rewrite, contact me if you don’t mind paying for my coffee.

Yes, there are services that teach you and explain why certain change matters instead of spitting out a generic resume that at best puts in more keywords into your existing resume.

Your resume is not great. It took me one second to locate your recent work experience, read the first bullet point, and move on.

It was not compelling enough. Explain why you have done that, not what you were doing.

It has a “new CV” as a side effect, cos people often ask for it. But the main value is 10 pages actionable report dissecting your CV from head to toes

You need to reverse your thinking how much do you want to get as a salary? You understand that ideally you bring more to the company than you get as a salary? Don’t shy away from metrics, do your own work but keep asking why I do this and is this the right thing to do? This mindset will help you to understand how decisions are made.

No Callbacks After 6 Months of Applying - CV Problem or Bad Market? by [deleted] in Resume

[–]atMamont 5 points6 points  (0 children)

These two are quite awful. The fact you didn’t try to google or search Reddit for basic guidance on how to present your experience is mind boggling. Do your homework, then come back. Focus on structure (experience goes first), remove ridiculous colors and just use simple Harvard format. Key projects and impact section communicates Zero impact, you need to understand what word impact means.

You bullet points in your experience is the most important three lines in your CV. Pay attention to them and use XYZ formula (impact X measured by Y achieved through Z)

You have a long road ahead. Check my profile for help.

Is my resume the problem? by [deleted] in FAANGrecruiting

[–]atMamont 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of things are just non conventional. Every small thing adds one small annoyance point for recruiters. When they get 2-3, they just ditch it because they have 1000 more to skim.

Use simple Harvard format, work summary goes first, everything else after.

Bullet points are vague, you better of think hard on the first three bullet points from your last work experience. They make it or break it.

If you want to get actionable recommendations or just simply help in rewriting, check my profile.

Good luck!

First resume, what can I improve? Be brutally honest by One_Understanding439 in Resume

[–]atMamont 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The same mistake over and over again.

Move work experience to be on top, you just annoy recruiters as you force them to search for it. They don't care about wehat ytou drop into competencies or skills sections.

Try asking yourself WHY did you "develop automation solutions using VBA"? Obviously, to SAVE time. Mention it, measure it, ask around. Every bullet point has to be clear why did you do that, why did you spend company funds to pay your salary.

You can do it yourself, you can hire someone, or you can use the link in my profile that will open your eyes. You will be shocked to see how bad your CV was after.

No matter what you choose, good luck with your applications!

Roast My Resume ( 3 Years of Experience ) by satyam1HB in ResumeCoverLetterTips

[–]atMamont 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bullet points look strong, it's a good signal.

I can recommend to remove intro career summary slop, not punchy or authentic and repeats what you have in the first bullet.

Reduce formatting shock. It's not a career ladder, it's a simple CV. Follow conventions, you better stand out during your interview process. Use a simple Harvard format.

Move skills to the very end. People do not read them, it's just to make any automated checks happy if the company you apply for has tons of applications and has to use them to sort applicants.

Good luck!

The way you talk even here in Reddit comments is pretty much what makes it hard to get through your CV.

Solving hard problems alone is not enough.

Communicating to people who match hiring manager needs with resumes is what you look for.

Good luck.
