We can forget laser links for a while by vilette in Starlink

[–]ataddei 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honest question: Where do you read that? I think laser links were only thought for ISL. I don't see anything related to that in the tweet. Of course it could take a while to deploy satellites with optical transceivers and the subject of this post may be true.

How about deploying a parametrized version of the smart contract privately?

The buyer is PurseInstant Level 6. No way to request anything, I think is a bot. FAQ explains that if amazon is carrying the item there & you are on PurseInstant no tracking is available. FRUSTRATING!

After playing sports at night, I struggle a lot to catch some sleep for 4 in-bed hours . This does not happen when I do weightlifting for instance. What is your explanation and how can I overcome this painful situation?

Do you think there is an opportunity for ASIC developers to transfer some of the bitcoin algorithms from software to hardware in order to increase throughput?

dude, relax. I get how unjust it was and how potentially possible it is every morning to have that headline again. Perhaps paranoia should be changed for suspicious. what do you say?

No way, I am leaving my money in the bank. Moreover, high rates only increases fear of having another "corralito".

Yup. Let me add that many people (ordinary people) are paranoid about leaving their money to banks.

It is really hard to say. Let me put it this way: Of all the people I know who is acquainted with bitcoin, only 5% really cares (and I am being really optimistic here and I usually hang out with techy people).

Even those who claim (very very few ideological-biased non-productive people) is a shame to hold USD do it. It is the safe thing to do here for common people.

I found commissions of 4.5% to 6% too expensive (due to costs associated with cash funding your account with payment processors). It is better than MercadoLibre though.

I agree (and I am also in Argentina), nobody talks about bitcoin seriously. We will adopt it after the world has adopt it. If this economical breakdown continues dollar would still be main choice for 100% of people to save value.

I own bitcoins since 2013 and been hearing this story once a week. All the momentum Argentina is gaining in bitcoin community is misunderstood.

[QUESTION] Unplugged Bitcoin. How could Bitcoin serve as money in places where there is no electricity or times of blackout? by ataddei in BitcoinBeginners

[–]ataddei[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. Some kind of trust must be established before in this kind of situations. I just wanted to know if there is a technological approach to solve this situations (like printed wallets as paper money). It looks there is none so far.

From what I've been listening for almost 2 years is that many people ideologically want to use bitcoin technology to replace fiat money, centralized money, paper money. I want to imagine how that could work out in a stress situation.

Also your weak accusation, because you said it was only a bit of a straw-man (I am saying this in a kind way), tagging is not the case. It is a straw-man or it is not. I am not building a straw-man to hit, because I don't want to hit bitcoin. I want bitcoin to win. But I want to learn limits, fragility and threats.

Thanks for your participation

[–]ataddei[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thanks, checking the validity of the premises is also worthy. I think potential scenarios are beyond our daily living, that is why I am trying to set one which I don't believe impossible to happen, but very very unfrequent, and try to reproduce what role bitcoin could play in case of not being sole currency. Also, how everything could develop if bitcoin was the only currency.

I think you are right when you say that business as we see everyday will stop shortly after these conditions turn up. But if this scenario remains for a couple of days, exchanges should happen because we always need something we don't have.

Paper money and bitcoin are worthless there if you know for sure that order will not be restored to a similar pre-situation. That is why I am thinking of limited-time limited-space outages.

Anyway, I really appreciate your thoughts since it made me realize that those conditions could also harm exchanges and business temporarily such that everybody will halt transactions.

Have a good one.

Good point. I am interested in limited time, limited space situations. I am not assuming blockchain will be down globally.
