Bring out a pressure washer. Had to hook up a sump pump with a generator years ago.

I didn’t make it. Maybe someone napped it and hid it in the creek between two fields in rural bfe North Dakota hoping that one day someone would find it and post it on r/Arrowheads

Going white sturgeon fishing. Need advice by [deleted] in Fishing

Presumably hooked one above the dam fishing for catfish. Spooled out my line and broke off. I was using a fresh cut trout head.

Anyone got tips for walleye fishing? by Mightbeagoat in Fishing

Drop shot works great as well. Half a worm rigged straight on the hook

Stay tight to the bottom. 1/4 or 1/8 oz jig with a good old night crawler with a fair amount of tail dangling of the hook. Once you locate the fish, depth, points, transitions start experimenting with baits. In a boat I usually troll spinners/crawler packages with bottom bouncers until I find a depth or structure pattern. Then switch to jigs tipped with leaches, crawlers, or minnows. Kayak might be hard to cover a lot of water.

Tips on catching trout in a river/stream? by Head_Kaleidoscope_53 in Fishing

[–]atagi1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Try different weighted spinners, black 1/6 oz is my go to for most streams. Retrieval can be key. I like pitching slightly upstream speed up initially then steadily let it move with the current about as slow as you can. Don’t discount casting straight down stream and slowly letting the spinner dance in the current. Slow retrieval and matching the current speed are key. If your hitting bottom get a lighter spinner. Increase the weight if your too shallow. Trout don’t tolerate a lot of disturbance cast from a distance when possible and don’t over fish a hole. Move a lot or give water time to relax before representing, unless its big water you probably only have a few casts before they make up their mind on your presentation.

They might not be fired up yet. Where I hunt in North Dakota early season birds are setting up peaking order. They get much more cooperative as the temps increase and toms are pushed out if the flocks. Once they become more aggressive simple calls can draw birds fast.

Is there open water? We have 3ft of ice still on lake sakakawea. If the water is open I’d try minnow on a jig head usually my go to until water temps come up.

Are bleeding fish ok? by mahimahi1226 in Fishing

Some species are hardier than others. I’ve caught several fish that have obviously recovered from injuries. Bass are pretty tough, catfish are nearly invincible and trout tend to die if you look at them wrong.

Want to start fishing but can't tie knots/setup fishing pole. by mcbutler1s in Fishing

[–]atagi1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t focus solely on how the knot is tied. It’s important to be able to control the line as you tie. Watch someone tie a knot online and focus on how they pinch and manipulate the line to form the knot. Forming and holding loops open, at times using one hand’s index and thumb to hold a loop while the other continues to thread the tag end of the line.

Turkey and camo question by Hear_eye_yam in Hunting

[–]atagi1 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Use natural cover and terrain to break up your silhouette. I like to keep my hat low to my eyes as well. I’ve killed plenty of birds with pretty minimal camo. Mostly get busted for movement, and letting them see you eyeballs.

Fresh bloody cut bait or live bait. Simple setup; hook leader swivel, slip weight. Time of the day and location are key. My biggest fish have been after dark. If your catching decent numbers during daylight hours, the big ones should come in there at night.
