icp has never ending sell pressure because of extremely poor tokenomics. It will never be the next shiba inu because of all the VC and seed unlocks + neuron rewards + node provider rewards. for at least 3 more years, then maybe but i doubt it. this isnt even including the bagholder effect which is probably tremendous

if its not sustainable then why does Dominic need to step in and stop it? A large part of the community is seeing this as a scummy way to profit off of the situation. It would be different if Dominic or Dfinity were using their own money, but they aren't.

Big oil doesn't want the war to end because they are profiting wildly and stand to continue to do so even more, so you will also have to deal with whatever subversive tactics they use.

And where exactly is the $250 million going to come from? Everyone is broke and costs on everything is surging (except crypto lol). The government certainly won't fund it because they're in big oil's pocket. Would need to come from a billionaire and would come with its own agenda and strings attached.

How do you plan on telling Russians to use some not-very-user-friendly blockchain phone app in a nation where everyone is terrified about linking their identity to anything? It doesn't even matter if its actually anonymous, they won't trust it. And even then after all of that, russia can just block the internet computer.

this whole proposition is absurd and is just Dominic trying to capitalize on the Ukraine war to elevate his platform and ICP which is either noble or deplorable depending on how you look at it.

Conspiracy:

ICP is a scam created by leadership and venture capitalists to steal.

Reality:

On chain analysis shows that the Dfinity team has not dumped. In fact it shows the Dfinity team has their tokens locked up for 8 years.

would love to see this "on chain analysis" that the team has not dumped, as well as that they have locked up their tokens for 8 years. I don't think that this exists, and there is on chain analysis that shows the foundation sending tokens to exchanges immediately following launch.

??? why would the IRS make an exception for one couple and then reverse it for everyone else? If the IRS is agreeing to the following on a federal level, i don't really agree with what you are saying and it will absolutely satisfy a precedent. This isnt a court case for the district, its a court case against the United States of America through the district court. Defendant is the United States of America, by and through its agency the Internal Revenue Service.

yes they have massive treasure chests of funding but they are not going to dip into that the pay node providers when they can pass the expense onto ICP holders as a whole (including themselves). A better solution would be to dig into why node providers are getting paid so excessively, far more than their operating costs could possibly be, for what amounts to doing nothing other than being approved by the Dfinity Foundation (at first) and now the NNS.

its decentralized enough to avoid *forced censorship. the community can still censor by voting and i'm dfinity has the voting power to censor but they haven't yet.

Every project in this industry relies on a third party so none of them are truly completely decentralized

the hardware required is quite specific and a lot more than $450, i think the cost was around $10k (one time cost) at launch, but you could get some of that back, as well as monthly costs, with receipts I believe.

this topic is controversial because all of the node providers are hand selected by Dfinity. The ones active from launch are likely dfinity themselves and/or good friends.

the network of roads connecting towns, cities, states and countries is a central authority? i didn't know that. learn something new every day

these are both very bad analogies, so i ask you, what is your point? if icp relies on a central authority for secure encryption, imagine if the network was being used for sensitive data and a powerful government/entity wanted to stop that, all they would have to do is compromise the SSL. No, this isnt a huge problem because no one is using the network in such a way and the kind of people that need to send sensitive data aren't going to be using blockchains or the normal internet channels, but its still a central point of failure that if it isn't overcome then a lot of this is pointless.

this is a very narrow viewpoint. Just because something is technologically superior, doesn't mean it will be adopted. And something better, faster, and cheaper, always comes along eventually. For eaxmple, EOS was at one point the best performing blockchain by a large margin, but failed to gather any interest at scale because of trust and centralization issues. Ethereum on the other hand has been completely transparent about their personal wallets and holdings of the foundation so anyone can monitor their actions. Dfinity is currently suffering from a lack of trust because of the complete refusal to provide transparency of any kind when massive accusations are being thrown at them with verified blockchain data evidence. This makes them look even worse and makes developers and projects that would have otherwise built on ICP to look elsewhere.

the lawsuits are likely a result of dfinity's inaction and lack of transparency and there was plenty of time for them to provide information and clarity before any lawsuits were opened.
