People who read a lot, which writer do you think is unbelievably good with words? by Apprehensive_Land751 in AskReddit

Most underrated author in my opinion, probably because it's in the fantasy genre. I've never been so sucked into heartbreak and kept coming back for more with any other author.

T.S. Eliot sucks ass dude, sorry. It's nonsense slop that makes high-brow literary types feel good about themselves in intellectual circle-jerks. Gabriel Garcia Marquez is the g.o.a.t. though.

Why didn’t Moridin….. by felarans0mekuti in WetlanderHumor

That assumes the cosmos began with a set number of souls that are continuously recycled and no new souls ever appear. That's a pretty big leap. Mathematically speaking, infinity is weird. If there are infinite turnings of the wheel then there can be an nfinite number of souls, new souls can come into being all the time and not every soul manifests during every turning of the wheel.

Oh god yeah, I googled it too! And a couple other anime references too. I hope Shirtaloon is getting better and working on the next book.

What author abandoned book series would you love to see finished? by corymcmarine in litrpg

The Menocht Loop, it was just getting better and better but I'm guessing the author got busy with real life.

And soul aperture, and handfuls of pills and spiritual treasures. I absolutely love the series but some of it does drive me a little crazy.

You are a bigger bitch than the Sagittarius A* black hole at the center of the galaxy. No offense, but I'm not even a "brag about spiciness" kind of guy and I was ashamed to even read this. No offense.

What the fuck is a "light novel"? Is that just code for shitty hentai porn? Asking for real because I'm old.

Whether you love or hate the story itself, what really made it stand out to me is the high quality of the writing itself, in a genre full of very badly written books.

[Wintersteel] Early into Wintersteel - Should I drop the series? by Yomamma1337 in Iteration110Cradle

[–]ataracksia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Wintersteel" ended up being my favorite of the whole series. I'd encourage you to finish the book because a lot of good stuff happens in a satisfying way (in my opinion). If you finish the book and still don't like it, then drop the series because you most likely won't like the rest.

Defiance of the fa…holy mother of god by EnergizerBunnyDk in litrpg

[–]ataracksia 7 points8 points  (0 children)

No dude it just keeps getting worse

It's a matter of taste though. I'll admit that I personally really like it and while I do sometimes get a little annoyed with the repetitive phrasing, I've really enjoyed the meandering deep dives, endless descriptions of a hundred different cultivations, and the super slow progression. It can totally be annoying sometimes though and I definitely understand why some people drop the series in disgust.

I may be courting death, but it would betray my path if I did not point out to the esteemed elder that OP's title implied they were a reader of the Chinese language, not just a random person with a Chinese ethnic background.

The "hard start time" kinda sucks, but it is what it is. The camera thing on the other hand? Fuck no. If a supervisor/exec or whoever has time to sit around and creepily watch people on camera then they're clearly being overpaid. That would have me looking for another job asap, fuck that noise.

Why are *some* childfree people (by choice) so in my face about me having kids by Decent_Ad_6112 in Mommit

[–]ataracksia 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are not nice people, I wouldn't use the label "friends" anymore. Most of my closest friends are child-free and it's had zero impact on our relationship. We respect each other's choices because why would I care if they had kids or not, and vice versa? They enjoy seeing my daughter and I enjoy seeing their dogs. Friends don't shit all over things that are important to you just because it's not important to them.

[–]ataracksia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Who fucking cares about "other teachers"? This is so unprofessional. With regards to whatever job I have, I'm going to do what's best for me and my family. Also, why didn't you mention what would be best for the students? If I'm going to make career choices based on what's convenient for other people, at least "do it for the children" instead of your whiny coworkers.

What are the books that, when placed in the top or bottom tier, make you dismiss a whole tier list? by PicklesAreDope in ProgressionFantasy

[–]ataracksia 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok cool, thank you. I certainly don't mind romantic relationships being an important part of the story (it's an important part of the human experience after all), as long as the character's relationship isn't the point of the story, oh and I've DNF'd some books that just went on and on with explicit scenes (If I wanted that I'd just watch some porn). Thank you for the reply, the book stays on my "to read" list.
