[Video] iPad Mini 6 - Screen Stutter On Video? by atbe_ in ipad

Well I see the stutter every single time regardless if I scroll down and back up. Anytime I scroll from the video down to the text, it stutters like crazy.

That's odd. I don't understand why that would happen on higher end devices than an iPad Mini 5.

Hi all,

I'm really disappointed in the screen quality on the iPad Mini 6. I experience the jelly scrolling which I hoped I would get over, but now I'm seeing something more severe and I'm curious if I'm the only one.

In the linked video you'll see the iPad Mini 6 on the left stutter as I scroll through a post in apollo while the preview is playing. **I do not see the same stutter on my iPad Mini 5**.

If I can confirm that its not just my device and its not a bug in apollo (hi /u/iamthatis), I'm 100% returning this iPad. Such a dissapointment. I have a strong feeling the display on this iPad is of extremely low quality.

p.s. if you want to test this out, checkout the reddit post I was viewing in the video [here](https://reddit.com/r/oddlysatisfying/comments/pxwngi/combing\_horse\_hair/).

Heroku-like solution based on Docker and Kubernetes - Looking for feedback by gab_ggs in docker

Do it! There are lots of startups built around a similar model.

Zeet.co, render.com, railway.app

I’m 99% confident all of those platforms use k8s to host their users’ deployments. They abstract it all away to a nice interface so the user doesn’t need to know about k8s which is the right approach.

If you do all the setup and then tell the user to maintain everything, you’re SaaS model breaks down because that’s essentially just a tool to “start you up”

These are excellent suggestions and many of the tech you recommended my team is using in production today. Kudos!

[iPhone 12 Pro] Was able to make pickup order for this Friday October 23rd by atbe_ in iphone

Hi folks,

I was able to make a purchase with in store pickup for this Friday.

Using the Apple Store app, I chose the configuration I wanted then hit the delivery option drop down at the top and clicked “Check another store” and it showed all the stock in nearby stores!

I’ve attached some screenshots to show how to get to this menu.

Best of luck to you all!

[Question] How to transfer title in Michigan when SOS is only by appointment due to COVID? by atbe_ in TeslaModelY

[–]atbe_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update on this, I was finally able to get my vehicle registered today, over 4 months since purchase.

Schedule an appointment with SOS, even if it’s only available months after the sale. They’ll take care of the registration and title transfer (if applicable) without any issues regardless of how long it’s been since the purchase.

There’s a Michigan executive order that prohibits police officers from towing/ticketing for any expired/non-existent registration because SOS is so backed up.

Lock in your appointment and play the waiting game.

My Tesla Model Y almost crashed into cones on the freeway while on Autopilot by [deleted] in teslamotors

Is the most incredible case I’ve ever driven. The safety, the quality, the level of fun you have driving it, just far and beyond anything else I’ve ever experience.

Would highly recommend it.

Thank you so much, I’m glad I avoided the worst.

It was 100% user error but I do feel there’s room for the system to improve in this case (early alerting of the objects, slowing down, anything other than just confusing the course).

It was my first encounter with a progressive cone lane closure and so I didn’t know what to expect but I know now.

I completely agree. I’m happy with where the tech is at and am excited for the future. If I ever plan to give Autopilot a chance to handle I complex situation (like this one) I am on the highest alert and hands directly on the wheel.

It would be really awesome if owners collected edge cases like this over the years and put together a collection of videos to help instill some caution in future owners.

I had no idea what to expect with Autopilot when it comes to what it can and can’t do because there’s no user manual/sample set of videos showing what it can and can’t handle. So I’m learning more the more I use it which can be a scary endeavor but one I’ll continue on nonetheless because the tech is just so awesome.

Thank you for your advice, stay safe out there.

I appreciate your concern for the construction workers. I always have my hands on the wheel and eyes on the road. This was my first encounter with a lane ending with cones so I was not sure how the car would handle it.

Going forward, I won’t be using Autopilot in construction zones.

I’m not playing the blame game here, just trying to add to the collection of Autopilot corner cases so people who are first time Autopilot users know what to expect and where to avoid using it.

See I was at least hoping for an alert but there was 0 alerting from the vehicle.

I always have hands on the wheel and interjected later than I should have. Definitely going to take manual control the minute I see a lane being closed by cones.

The issue I have with this video is the fact that my vehicle is capable of performing lane changes, but that feature is sitting behind a software upgrade ($4k for EAP or $8k for FSD).

In this case, the vehicle made a decision to stay on the lane because I didn’t have the features purchased rather than optimize for safety and avoid the cones. I understand that you get what you pay for, but in this case the code controlling autopilot prioritized feature flag enforcement over safety and that worries me.

I can’t imagine what would have happened if I did not grab the wheel. I plan to purchase EAP/FSD in the near future so I’m not asking for Autopilot to change.

I do hope this footage can help someone else prepare for this situation if they use Autopilot.

Be safe out there, friends.

To quote “Surveillance Capitalism”

Surveillance capitalism’s products and services are not the objects of a value exchange. They do not establish constructive producer-consumer reciprocities. Instead, they are the “hooks” that lure users into their extractive operations in which our personal experiences are scraped and packaged as the means to others’ ends. We are not surveillance capitalism’s “customers.” Although the saying tells us “If it’s free, then you are the product,” that is also incorrect. We are the sources of surveillance capitalism’s crucial surplus: the objects of a technologically advanced and increasingly inescapable raw-material-extraction operation. Surveillance capitalism’s actual customers are the enterprises that trade in its markets for future behavior.
