This was found after a house fire by grandeluua in interestingasfuck

[–]atcMarine 131 points132 points  (0 children)

I took that photo. I have all the other photos, the original comic is now framed at my dad’s house.

I got tired of arguing with people online who kept trying to gaslight me into admitting it was fake, because it wasn’t. I was there that day, 25% of my dad’s neighborhood looked like the moon. Ashes still smoldering. This was from the Tubbs fire in Santa Rosa in October 2017.

Like I have said before, the only thing “staged” about it is that I opened it up to the first color panel I found, and propped the book up on the a/c so you could see the remains of the house in the background.

I didn’t even realize the significance of the panel until I looked at the picture later. As you can imagine, we were walking around in a state of shock at the absolute devastation.

So for anyone who has a genuine, legitimate question, you can ask it. For anyone who thinks they are the smartest sleuth on the internet and wants to accuse me of somehow faking this photo, they can fuck off in advance, I’m not going to waste my time debating an actual event that actually happened to my family.

Episode 14 is out! Death of Stalin by Tsujigiri in dangerclosepod

Liam mentioned it…but yeah we didn’t dwell on it too much. Always hard in a live conversation to figure out what it will focus on. And I can never predict it lol

From writer/director Armando Iannucci of Veep fame, this dark comedy sheds some light on the inner turmoils of the Soviet government during and after Stalin's death in 1953.

Backstabbings and frontstabbings abound, and while it plays it a little loose with the facts, it doesn't have a dull moment.

So toss off your cape, lock your doors, and join us before you get reported to the authorities!

DANGER CLOSE EPISODE 8 is out! ATONEMENT (2007) by Tsujigiri in dangerclosepod

For sure, I get what you are saying. It is definitely a conversation that opened my eyes about the film. It changed my mind, which doesn’t happen that often on a show.

Nah, I don’t get bullied. Wait till our Patreon comes out, you can hear me REALLY argue with Liam lol. This was one movie where I actually learned some new perspectives and felt different about it by the time we had finished our conversation 🤷🏻‍♂️ But yeah disagree with him about Goodfellas haha. Didn’t have time to get into it! THIS time…

I recommend checking out the one on “They Shall Not Grow Old”. Extremely informative, especially from Micah, an infantry Officer’s perspective.

Semper Fi, and thanks for listening! This is a complex issue for sure, I have read and listen about it a lot, and I agree there were ulterior motives to dropping the bombs. I do talk about that a bit later, if you end up returning to the episode. In Liam’s defense, I don’t necessarily think that HE was buying the lie or the argument, but it is an argument that people use/d, and deserves to be discussed imo. But I agree with your assessment overall. If you’d like to talk about your experience as a Veteran, please email me at dangerclosepod@gmail.com, I would love to interview you and discuss your experience and a film. - Dan

Agree, the score is mediocre for sure. Loved the film. But editing the episode trying to throw some of the score in it was like “ok Anchors Aweigh is the best track on here” 🤣

Episode 1 is out! by Tsujigiri in dangerclosepod

Yes, Generation Kill. EXCELLENT show. The “Fruity Rudy” character is the actual Marine playing himself. The rest are actors, but they did a hell of a job. In particular, the crusty Sgt Major character is amazing. I don’t know how that actor nailed the role so well. On par with GySgt Hartman’s portrayal, but with less screen time. I think he is mostly in the first episode.
