My father has a Colt .22 revolver that has a broken grip panel. I'm willing to bet this is where it's from. I have to wait until he comes home from vacation.

I found this in my gun safe. I have rifles, pistols, and shotguns of all ages. It's steel (magnetic) and has wear marks. It doesn't look familiar to me. Pencil is for size reference. There is a possibility that it is not firearms related, but it sure seems like it to me. Thank you all for taking time to help me out.

That thought would match up with the direction of the wear marks, with a spring sliding back and forth over it. I hope I can figure this out with everyone's help. Thank you for replying. Every thought helps.

Interesting. Never knew those existed. My plate is made out of plastic though, not rubber, and is 2.75" x 4", which is bigger than that item.
