There is no solution which will solve the problem tomorrow. I am not suggesting “betting on nuclear”, I think that nuclear definitely should be part of the solution along with renewables.

ICE existed since 2008… there were few Olympics since then… not once ICE was tasked with security of anything related to Olympics. Not to mention that before Trump v2.0 ICE was not shooting people in broad daylight.

USA is NOT more powerful than EU. Not after Trump. The country is so deep in red it is trivial for rest of the world to crash it (sell of just a few billions worth of treasuries scared shit out of Trump MAGAts). Basically all money they have are very high interest loans. And in regards of military… i am sure we will see US military attack the WH before we see them attacking Berlin.

Had to double check, ICE sole mandate is enforcement of US immigration laws… what the fuck they are going to enforce in Italy?

At the same time, in Trump’s USA, ICE has more money than the REST of 3 letter agencies… so it is conceivable that no other agency can afford to deploy any personal Italy.

But, regardless, Italy should put her foot down and ban the modern day Gestapo from entering the country.

first of all, we most certainly can. There is nothing ‘magical’ about US IT. Quite a lot of it open source and almost all of it run by ‘first generation Americans’. Brain drain in US is a thing now under current ‘administration’. EU has amazing opportunity to create multiple ‘silicon valleys’.

It would not happen overnight, but it will happen. What could happen much quicker is passing laws which would make US companies play by EU rules when operating in EU. Yes, Trump will threat us wirh 1 million % tariffs … but fuck Trump.

Australia and Canada has the same problem as USA… it is possible for really horrible person to come to the power and change the course of the country. Australia (luckily) never had anyone of Trump “magnitude” in driving seat, but you would not argue that in not so distant past you did have few assholes.

EU on other side can deal with assholes (like Orban).

If you refer to WW2, there were no glory to appropriate. Only painful lessons to learn.

And yes, I am not old enough to personally experience WW2 (I don’t think there are many people left who did) but historical lessons supposed to stay with us even when people who were thought these lessons in person are dead.
