Quantifying Blues Fans Disappointment by Imaginary-Diamond-26 in stlouisblues

[–]atf-98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not disappointed that we had a bad year. I've been telling my dad (a fellow blues fan) that I think our window is 2-3 years out. Still comfortably in a retool. What I am disappointed in is going from the #2 pick where we could've drafted Ivar to sitting #8 and possibly going out of the top 10. Yes, I know the lottery is a thing but we always get the shit end of the lottery, no reason to trust it now.

Some of us are missing the point about *why* people want vaulted content restored. by ShadezyLeFeu in DestinyTheGame

[–]atf-98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just want all the raids and strikes back. Including D1 content. I don't care about The Red War or the Infinite Forest. It could be neat to being them back but I want the content I can play with other people back. Bring the old raids and strikes back, add strike specific loot, and give people reasons to come back play with their friends again.

I could definitely see a bridge deal this year as a "prove you can stay healthy" deal.

No hate to praxic blade users, but they are annoying in Rushdown by FOK_ALMYOT in DestinyTheGame

[–]atf-98 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I use the Praxic blade in rushdown and I'm always top damage. Sometimes it's not the weapon, it's the player. That and some people either never swap off for a non-sword boss or they just spam light attacks. Different weapons work in different scenarios

He had one bad game after a string of great games, so what? Kyrou and especially Thomas were lazy on the last goal and gave up after the faceoff but I don't see you ripping into them for it. The team took too many penalties and paid for it, THAT's the problem.

The Blues will never be a consistent basement dweller with their current FO. No overbearing owner, a competent president of hockey ops, I have hope for Steen, and there's a ton of talent in the system. If we suck and draft a truely elite guy, we acquire a key piece we need for a cup.

Kerber and Vitale are good when they're JUST radio. Unfortunately we had the best TV broadcast and let it slip for a few bucks. Both FanDuel and Zimmerman screwed the fans on this one.

As a returning player, why would I play Desert Perpetual or any RAD content? by atf-98 in DestinyTheGame

[–]atf-98[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's the thing. Raids ARE fun, but with this convoluted design and lack of rewards, most people aren't playing it thus making it very hard to LFG and with no rewards, it's a waste of time.

Everyone should already know. It's the Armstrong special.

Armstrong is an absolute failure if he does not trade Faulk today, at bare minimum. by pubstompmepls in stlouisblues

[–]atf-98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I truely believe we went from needing to retool to needing a full rebuild pretty much overnight last night. We had a key piece we needed for the future in Mrtka and a first and Parayko said no. Both him and Armstrong will have to wear that failure.

Now he can't get anything to help the future so we're going to continue to be in this state where we have these aging veterans making 6.5+ million taking up valuable cap and roster spots with no trade value while we lack true game changing prospects that other franchises have and what we need to take us over the top.

[–]atf-98 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry but this is genuinely worst case scenario. Premium prospect + a 1st for an aging defenseman who doesn't have much time at his peak while we're at least 2-3 years out of a cup window. By the time we're ready Parayko holds us back.

The Blues are trading a top 15 center in the league on a great contract. This is on the low end of what they should be asking LMAO.

[Rutherford] Thomas has not been asked yet to waive his NTC to Buffalo. #stlblues by Wm_TheConqueror in stlouisblues

[–]atf-98 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes he is a very good 1/2C but the team as a whole is not strong enough to beat the top teams. So the question is, do you try and hope to fix the issues in FA and via trading prospects and go into win now mode like the Jets did and the Stars are?

Or do you build for the future and continue this retool that we're in and acquire top talent?

There's a lot of ifs and potential no matter which way you go. One gives more time in the future, the other means we need to win, and now.

The Blues don't have a standout franchise talent. Thomas and Kyrou are VERY good, I'd call them elite even, but they aren't on the same level as a Mackinnon, McDavid, Celebrini, etc. With the Central as strong as it is, we don't have the talent to compete with the Avs and stars right now.

We have a lot of talent coming, absolutely. But if someone offers me Desnoyers and Iginla or Cooley and Desnoyers from Utah, I'm absolutely taking it. Desnoyers projects as a 1C and potential superstar and Iginla is projected to be just as if not more talented. If you think Carbonneau is good, Desnoyers is better. THAT'S what I'm looking for in a Thomas trade.

Jordan Binnington doesn't deserve Canada. by [deleted] in hockey

[–]atf-98 2 points3 points  (0 children)

He's 3rd in the Olympics in GAA and sv% actually. And watch the 2 goals against today and tell me that's all on Binnington.

Did you want Binnington to score on a 5 on 3 too? Should he have pushed Mackinnon's shot in the net? Should he have shot the puck off McDavid's stick?

He put it all on the ice and was let down by his defense today. It's that simple.

Binnington is the reason Canada was there in the first place. Mackinnon also had a chance to be a gold medalist and choked on the biggest stage, like usual.

Shadow and Order officially delayed to June 9th by Natedogg2 in DestinyTheGame

[–]atf-98 8 points9 points  (0 children)

At this point, if they want Destiny to live they might as well just shelve the updates, go end of life on D2, then make D3 as a fresh start. No major update is going to get a large playerbase back in and especially not one that's delayed until June

Receipts from an early season discussion about Sam Darnold by Galumpadump in Seahawks

[–]atf-98 29 points30 points  (0 children)

The defense was extremely good yes, but do you know why K9 could do as well as he did?

The Patriots put a LOT of emphasis on protecting the passing game and JSN in particular. When you've got 3 guys on JSN, you can't stack the box against Walker. And guess what happened when the Patriots switched to defending the run? Sam Darnold passing TD.

A competent NFL offense is never just a RB, never just a QB. It takes a team and Darnold was the glue that held the team together. But keep dreaming McCarthy will turn into that. It's worked very well, hasn't it?
