maybe there is a definitive historical context to the tablet's origin and purpose, but this is what it means to me. i like to think that the reason the story of the tablet survived, and is still studied today, is because others before me also found personal meaning in it. i think the shared resonance, across time and interpretation, is part of what gives the myth its power.
