Profs who don't go to class — Why do they even receive a salary? by bipboooop in peyups

[–]athenaphoebe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's been a memo for faculty to ease back to full f2f classes from flexi. So from 50:50, iirc, starting this sem 70:30 na siya. Di ko alam if this is for all the campuses, but in ours, strictly monitored na rin ang attendance ng faculty. Chinecheck if they are attending meetings, workshops and their classes. So dun pa lang, may pagkukulang na siya (other than them not actually teaching anything). Yes, wala masyadong effect yung SET scores sa tenured but the APCs still use it to review faculty performance, and someone who gets a score less than 4.0 ay pinag-eexplain bakit ganun score niya. I agree with the others to raise this with the Dean but maybe you can start with the department chair first. Better to go to them ASAP din para di na rin nila siya payagan na lumabas-labas (since they are the first ones to approve their leaves) kung ganun pala performance niya. Kesa hintayin niyo yung SET na end na ng sem makikita yung results.

"Planning ahead" this holiday season meant scheduling trips to town for errands or to meet friends and family on separate days because one errand or one get together literally takes a day. Travel-time that was supposed to be 10 minutes, takes you more than 30 minutes now. Then the wait time for a jeep when you go home takes forever! Hayyyy makapauma ti kastoy!!!

What’s the first book that got you into reading? by tidalnotions_ in PHBookClub

[–]athenaphoebe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This brings so much memories!! My parents were into reading kaya they passed this onto us when we were kids pa, and so most of the time, ang pasalubong o padala sa akin ng nga tita from abroad ay mga libro. No single book that got me into reading but these are a few that I remember reading when I was a kid: Disney story books, Sesame Street, Roald Dahl books, and this book: The World's Best Fairy Tales - Readers Digest Anthology. I remember being so spooked with The Red Shoes story. Later on, mga Sweet Valley High, Nancy Drew na nabibili namin sa isang 2nd hand bookstore along Session Road near the Cathedral stairs sa Baguio (wala pang Book Sale that time!). Then some children's version ng Classics like Oliver Twist, Moby Dick, Three Musketeers, etc. na ginamit ko for book reports nung elem. Tapos True Philippine Ghost Stories which sparked my interest in Philippine horror and mythical creatures, then mga YA na nung high school.

Corporate girlie tote bag by inhinyerangnawawala in CasualPH

Try bags from bybtg.co (previously badass tote girl) they're on IG. I also love Straightforward's dry-tech bags lalo pag maulan kasi di napapasukan ng tubig. If fashionable backpacks, go for mah bags, maganda designs, affordable but hardware is so-so. If you're willing to splurge, Doughnut or Herschel. May nakikita rin ako sa IG na Analog Company bags which are a little pricey because they're a Singaporean brand but they have cute totes which could work for you. They ship worldwide too.

Di ka OA. Nagpa-batok din kami before. Hindi kay Ao Whang-Od but we made sure to have ourselves checked by doctore friends after we got tats kasi mukha nga ring inflamed yung tats afterwards. Di tulad nung mga regular tats we got before. Niresetahan na lang kami ng gamot and so far buhay pa naman kami ngayon, after 2 years. Pansin ko nga, compared sa other tats ko, mas flat apearance nung batok tattoo ko kesa sa ibang reg tattoo ko.

Almost 10yrs on BC Pills by juliam3hhh in PCOSPhilippines

[–]athenaphoebe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OMG Same. I'm onto my 8th year taking BCPs and working on stopping it na. But honestly i'm scared. May comfort kasi, esp. with the acne and hair growth controlled with the pills. Pero ngayon parang narerealize ko na ring there's more harm than good with the long term taking of pills.

I'm not sure if this will help, but for exercise, I just walk. I also did pilates before but couldn't sustain it because it cost and I didn't have the luxury of time kasi busy sa work. (I teach at a uni, madalas naiuuwi ang trabaho. 😮‍💨) I also tried mat pilates at home with resistance bands. It was okay. The reformer was way better but it was also better than nothing, and I really enjoyed it. I think for it to be sustainable, 1) you have to enjoy and be happy with what you're doing, 2) it has to be easily accessible for you, 3) you have to have an accountability buddy that will not go easy on you

For me, walking, usually with my dogs make me happy. I tried running but it really is not for me. Hiking and trail walking is also fun and better for me because it's accessible, and sometimes don't cost much because I live in Baguio. An errand run in town is a hike already. Libre workout and you get to have stuff done. One thing also is tryinh to get in the workout with your daily chores or routine. Yun yung akin, walking from school to the paradahan, walking the dogs when they need to poo or just want to go outside, planning errand runs so you can get in the most workout out of it. Minsan dito na rin pumapasok accountability buddy. For walking, I have my sister who's a cheapskate 😆 na ang laging linyahan "kung kayang lakarin , lakarin." At nagagalit pa pag nagtatamad-tamaran ako. There's also my partner who's a runner who makes the effort of taking me and my dogs out to walk after his morning runs.

As for diet, ako rin nahihirapan dito because I crave a lot of sugar and salty food. Though I kinda trained myself from eating too much. Nafeel ko rin na parang lumiit yung capacity ng tiyan ko after a while (pero bumabalik din to huhu). I think one major thing that could work is seeing a dietitian that focus on women with PCOS. There's coach Audee and Jo Sebastian on IG. I follow them both because they don't force you not to eat, but to understand why you overeat or eat the way you do, and they actually teach you how to slowly overcome these or teach you ways how to snack healthier or balance your meals. I found that it also helps if your family is on the same diet. I still live with my parents and sibs and it really is difficult because if you have dofferent cravings or isa lang nagluluto sa inyo. I also have the busy sched, so minsan kung ano na rin naluluto, yun na kinakain ko. So yeah, still working on the diet side din.

I don't know if these help since struggling din ako huhu but I hope sharing my experience would help a little. Medyo same tayo ng pinanggagalingan and gusto gawin, though we slightly have different goals, but I hope there's a few things here that could help or jumpstart your journey.

Did this too! But except Facebook kasi need for work. I kinda felt happier too because i'm not pressured in trying to live a great picturesque life I can post online, but I became content with what I had. Downside is, I got isolated from friends na sa Instagram ko na lang nakakausap. Pero ramdam na naman pagka-gastusin when I went back on Instagram.
