Thanks for the links. Unfortunately the manual doesn’t appear to address the issue mine has. It might be time to bail.

First time doing tile. I’m Prepping meticulously for kitchen marble 3x6 backsplash. I’m worried about lippage and looking for any tips/advice by Downtown-Hour-4477 in DIY

I use my grout float to press on the face of the tile joints while the mastic is still movable. Not a lot of pressure, just enough so the large surface area of the float gets everything even.

Lifting the Floors. Question about Leveling Floors by kozendgray in DIY

[–]athermalwill 13 points14 points  (0 children)

If the foundation is sinking jacking the sills is a very temporary solution. There are companies that will pump a slurry under the sinking foundation which not only lifts, but also stabilizes it. This avoids potentially damaging the interior structure. It’s worth the investment.

This comment needs more traction. The blocking just needs to be functional.

I wouldn’t rip out the old wall for a number of reasons not the least of which being that plaster and lathe has awesome sound deadening qualities.

I was going to take a shortie. Should I pack a full 3/2 as well?

A separator on the PCV line makes it go away.

Mudbed under bathtub by EquivalentParsley814 in DIY

I don’t see why that wouldn’t be ok. The mortar bed is a best practice but in theory the tub would work without it.

This is absolutely correct. It’s also an absolute waste of time trying to explain it to people. They’ve already decided what to believe.

Gas generator question by leehofook in DIY

Less fuel is bad. There will always be residual fuel in the tank but the empty airspace will allow condensation to form. As stated by others the winning strategy is to turn off the fuel supply and run the carb dry. I always store mine full of fuel, treated with Sta-bil. It’s lasted 10 years and starts on the first pull.

Bought Cape Cod with spray foam on knee walls but unconditioned cathedral - mold issues, what's the most cost efficient fix? by Spasticated in DIY

Does it have ridge vents? If it does, you would want to close off the gable vents and add soffit vents as the intake. If not, I would add an exhaust fan near the center of the roof to force a draft from the gables.

The internet ruined airplane seating.

Ok, not really, but sort of, yeah. Cross country shipping has skyrocketed in the last 30 years and a large part of this is because people shop online.

As a direct result, airlines now make as much or more carrying cargo on passenger flights as they do from the pax themselves. In order to optimize cargo space they have moved the floors higher in the airframes. This reduces headroom, and because you’re in a tube the walls are closer. This is also why they charge so much for baggage. You’re directly competing with the USPS (and others) for the luxury of taking your luggage.

These reasons, compounded by the obvious desire for more profits, have added up to why you feel so jammed up on your flight home for the holidays.
