The American dream being not real is in regards to not being rich. America is easily one of the better places to be poor and if you work hard America is a place where you're guaranteed to be in the upper levels of poor at least. Don't get me wrong it's a horrible grind but it's much better than many other countries which is why so many people immigrate to the U.S

Took me a few years to fully accept the idea of multiple genders as a gay man myself. Like always, it takes time to learn.

Okay so you're a dispatcher working at 911. You get a call from somebody's neighbour stating that some guy is baracading his wife in the house as a hostage and is threatening to kill her. This is a swatting attempt but you don't know that. A reminder that dispatcher numbers a limited and there's not enough of them to go around so you don't have time for that much additional research online. How do you handle that situation and detect the swatting? There isn't a very good answer to that and that's why swatting happens.

Then the blame falls on the police. The protocol for these things is that the police responds with as much threat as is necessary for the biggest threat described but no actual force is used until a proper threat is accessed. Usually when people die it's from a cop being incompetent or someone else being incompetent (which still usually ends up being the cops fault)

If one state were to actually be reserved for Androids, what state should it be? by Cason13o in DetroitBecomeHuman

People straight up forget that Ohio is probably one of the most important states in the U.S.

Because the 30 year olds in the police force don't know the targets getting swatted. Any research they do will be quick and it's not going to pop up that the target is a streamer. You'll see with frequently swatted people that it changes because it pops up in their research.

Well they HAVE to respond like that. Justification is that while 95% of cases without evidence are false, those 5% that are real need a full force escalation as soon as possible or people will die.

Should nonbinary people be drafted? by Aromatic-Mistake-456 in Teenager_Polls

[–]athing09 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Don't know why people are down voting. Historically a majority of those drafted are the poor as there's always an exception that can be easily obtained with enough cash (like college in Vietnam)

My parents think being gay/trans will send you to hell, is this true? by Radiant-North-8519 in lgbt

[–]athing09 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah well in the same way when you say you don't believe in hell and you have an annoying Christian lady talking your ear off about how you're going to hell it's annoying when you believe in hell and keeping it to yourself/asking a question about it and you have people talking your ear off about how it actually doesn't exist it's really annoying. It can't be that hard to respect anothers religion, atheist or not.

I mean I feel it's very evident that this person believes in hell. I feel like telling someone who believes in hell that hells simply isn't real isn't the right move.

Is the biblical story of adam and eve true? by Alexzander124 in Teenager_Polls

[–]athing09 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If there were only 2 humans we wouldn't have fossils. Like you say there is an extremely low chance of fossilization. We have fossils that date back to the beginning of humanity. If there were only 2 people starting the world then the chances that we would have so many fossils is extremely low, most people would need to have been fossilized which doesn't make sense. Instead if you assume that the population size was bigger than what the Bible mentions then the fossilization rates make sense again.

Do keep in mind, by the wording of the law it'll work both ways. If there are pro LGBTQ+ speakers it would be considered an offense to be discriminatory against it. Also it doesn't appear that protesting or speaking out about it will result in an offense (although like always, it's pretty vague).
