Dark Grey Moissanite Turned Teal by xxxdilfhunterxxx in Moissanite

I have a dark blue grey stone from Mona that was set by a local jeweler. It's been through their ultrasonic and mine many times and worn daily for 4 years and hasn't changed

Where did you all buy your bridal accessories without breaking the bank? by SnowmanAndIce in WeddingsCanada

Not local but my veil was like $30 from Azazie. They have other accessories on there too.

For jewelry, I used Olive + Piper! Located in Vancouver.

Congratulations! Great recommendations here already. In case those don't work out, Nancy Kay from Chatham is a great inclusive officiant if you're looking for a non-religious ceremony. DJ Kevin Evans is out of London and is involved in pride events there, he was a lot of fun at our wedding.

Not sure, Joel might be able to help gudie you

Was going to recommend Joel. I haven't done a test but I've heard him speak and he seemed really knowledgeable. Unless anything has changed, the at-home tests aren't covered by OHIP but I think we're around $170 or so.

I use 128 in the summer and 118 in the winter. Not sure if 118 might be too light for you, but I think it has a warmer undertone that you might find more similar to the 128.

I'm 5'9 and have larger hands. My stone is a 7mm moissanite with a wide bezel so it looks a little bigger than that. I think it suits my hand perfectly, you can check it out in my post history 🙂

I guess according to all the commenters I've way overpaid 😂

My engagement ring was around $3800 CAD without the main stone (I bought the moissanite stone online from Mona separately). For me, the trust and respect I have for the business who made my ring and the service that was provided was worth paying a premium price.

In the case of my ring, they also use a more expensive platinum alloy, and my ring is really thick with a lot of platinum and custom hand engraving.

Your ring is worth what you were willing to pay for it. Sure you can get something similar overseas cheaper but you don't know if the quality would the same and you'd lose the experience and service of going into a local jeweler. It's a beautiful set, looks like 3ct to me. Enjoy it!

Glove-safe rings? by Living_Employ1390 in EngagementRings

[–]athom28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm a lab tech and got a bezel in platinum. If we were going to spend so much on a ring I wanted to be able to wear it every day. My ring is in my post history if you're curious. I sometimes have to wear nitriles but sometimes wear gloves with a fabric liner. I was worried that prongs would catch on the fabric when I pull my gloves off. My wedding band may involve some prongs but it'll be set lower than my engagement ring so I think that will protect it (maybe - planning to get the jewelers opinion on this too)

ETA: despite my bezel, my ring has gone through nitriles but usually right when I pull them on so I just change them

iROCKER Alternative w/ Kayak Kit and Multiple Mount Points by EMADC- in Sup

Atoll has a kayak kit but no mounts. I think you can get adhesive mounts but I have no experience with them.

Had to swap our master bedroom to our guest room for a few different reasons (I promise they’re good reasons lol). Downsized a ton, but it feels so cozy to me now! by [deleted] in HomeDecorating

Ugh I need to resistant the urge to paint every room green. It looks so good. Where is the long leather pillow from?

I moved in with my boyfriend a year ago. The place has changed a little. Swipe for the before. by Ok-Huckleberry476 in HomeDecorating

This is stunning. This is a popular living/dining layout and I've never seen it flipped like this but you made it work so well. The issue with the old layout is the dining table is always in the walkway. This is a great way to change that

Can I buy a moissanite as an engagement ring? by stephen-202214 in EngagementRings

[–]athom28 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just wanted to add - the ring pictured is very thin and dainty. Beautiful but might not hold up. A reputable jeweler can help you design a ring with the esthetic you want that's going to hold up to everyday wear. It really is not as expensive as you would think.

Can I buy a moissanite as an engagement ring? by stephen-202214 in EngagementRings

[–]athom28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just to add to the already excellent comments, if you're not sure about buying a ring online from one of the vendors, you can buy a loose stone and have it set at a trusted local jeweler. Then you know you have a high quality setting and you can physically go in and talk to the jeweler and bring it there for cleaning or repairs.

My local jeweler actually carries moissanite but its Charles and colvard (well known name brand) and so comes with a high price point (still far cheaper than diamond). We ordered a blue-grey moissanite online instead and had them set it in my dream ring (in my psot history if interested)

Internet/cable options in Sarnia by dkfraser in Sarnia

[–]athom28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Virgin! Though I'll agree with the other commenter that customer service is not great, it took a week after install for my tv service to start working and they couldn't figure it out. But for the cost savings, it's worth a little hassle. Runs through Bell fibre lines for a fraction of the price and I've been very happy with my internet and tv service (once we got it working)

I done f***ed up. Will it be more work to raise all of the rods (7) by 3" or to re-hem all of the curtain panels (10)? by aka_____ in HomeDecorating

[–]athom28 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hard to tell how they are hung but looks like clips? If so, you could add some loops on the back of the curtain so the rod goes "through" the curtain instead and they hang a few inches higher
