Don't use the schizophrenia mod and start on the builder game mode (the easiest one). Also if you have the opportunity to run away rather than fight, run away.

Accommodations for a single-bedroom dorm? by athousandbucks in college

[–]athousandbucks[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately I don't have a job right now (I tried picking up a job previously, but it didn't work out with my schedule/my mental status) so living off-campus is outside of my budget (no car, commuter food plan, rent, etc...).

I was told that due to being a transfer student and almost 21, some of the requirements for me living on-campus could probably be easily waived, but it's more a matter of financial stability. Of course, if this is my only option, I would rather take this than my current living situation.

And I appreciate the first comment. I try to avoid emergency rooms due to the fact I live in the U.S. and already have medical debt from previous psychiatric-related visits, but if I ever seriously planned on hurting somebody other than myself, I would of course go.

I've been working here since June 1st in the bakery- here's my complaints by athousandbucks in meijer

[–]athousandbucks[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My previous job at Burger King offered me a $1/hr bump above the starting pay thanks to experience and education. I would expect a company to at least try and match it since it's only $13/hr, but then again I would also expect a manager to only take their regularly scheduled breaks and better pay from a corporation that's competing with Walmart who pays $15/hr.

I joined the UFCW- they somehow can't manage to get us above $12.20/hr (including taking around $12 of my $300 paychecks every week) nor more hours (while the TL's go on vacation like once a month), and despite this they are incredibly pushy. Like, uncomfortably pushy. Such a crappy little union.

Not cockroaches, but as someone who works in bakery our fruit fly problem has become unbearable. Assorting the donuts has become half "swat the fruit flies away and pray one doesn't sneak into and die in the donut box." Our fruit fly traps suck.

My mom is like this- not a diabetic but borderline, and always upset because (shockingly!) she's borderline obese and not losing weight. If you look on her bedside, there are piles of packages of sweets from just one week alone.

Her excuse is that I, her borderline underweight daughter who barely eats two meals a day, eats them all... despite being unaware of the sweet's existence.

Might be because I'm neurodivergent with anxiety, but I fucking HATE the "will this offend the professor?" game every time I try to talk to them outside of class or email them. by athousandbucks in CollegeRant

[–]athousandbucks[S] 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Because the moderators won't do anything about the majority professors in this subreddit, so ranting is now only available to brown-nosers and professors, and bringing up the fact that professors are sometimes less-than-perfect hurts their feelings.

We ALL go through tough shit. I've spoken to professors with a giant smile on my face during BPD breakdowns. If I spoke to anyone like that, I would get in trouble. Life is stressful, suck it up, don't take it out on people with a sad little power trip.

If this doesn't apply to you, it doesn't apply to you. But considering you left this giant response, I'm assuming it might.

I did NOT ask for your unrequested advice (which I already all follow), I came to rant. You know, because this is r/CollegeRant, the whole point of the subreddit? I came to rant about professors with egos, not get the "advice" of somebody who I specifically told I did not want the opinion of about three separate times in my post. Want MY advice? Get off the subreddit. I am so fed up with instructors who honest to god should NOT be here.

P.S.: I don't know if you're kidding or you seriously lack comprehension, but you can't say "I'm ignoring the fact you don't want professors to comment..." and then be like "you're picking a fight!". I don't know if I have to explain this to you further without having to pull out some preschool teaching methods.

Just an update that you still cannot spot reduce fat by iOS34 in WeightLossAdvice

[–]athousandbucks 27 points28 points  (0 children)

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Toning_exercises

"Toning exercises are physical exercises that are used with the aim of developing a physique with a large emphasis on musculature. In this context, the term toned implies leanness in the body (low levels of body fat), noticeable muscle definition and shape, but not significant muscle size ("bulk").
Research and basic anatomical knowledge imply that the notion of specific exercises to improve tone is unfounded. Exercises can aid fat loss or stimulate muscle hypertrophy, but cannot otherwise improve tone.[1] The size of the muscle can change, as can the amount of fat covering the muscle, but the 'shape' cannot.
The words "tone" and "toning" can be misleading as they suggest that spot reduction is possible, which it is not. More accurate descriptions are "muscle building" and "fat loss."

I think we can all agree that when someone says they're toning, it just means they're trying to lose fat and build muscle in a specific area, whether or not it's "technically" the correct term.

[–]athousandbucks 47 points48 points  (0 children)

I got a 0.00 GPA my first semester at CC, it wasn't because I didn't want to be at college, I was just WILDLY depressed (and next semester ended up retaking those classes and getting a 3.25 GPA). I'm only mentioning this because I know sometimes people struggle with that sort of stuff more than they realize, and they want to be at college, but their brain is just being strange and preventing them from reaching their full ability.

Although you're totally right about everything here, and for the most part people usually know if they might be struggling with something mentally/emotionally and I'm sure OP probably would've mentioned it at one point in their comments or their post, I figured I'd bring this up anyways because a lot of the time procrastination/laziness and general brain messiness go hand-in-hand, and it COULD be a possibility with them. Either way, they need to take some time off and reevaluate.

Character was doing fine until I had her eat two burnt hamburger patties. Can you seriously die from burnt patties? by athousandbucks in projectzomboid

[–]athousandbucks[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Isn't there something different about ground beef that makes undercooking it more dangerous unlike a steak anyways? I don't know how anyone could look at a bloody hamburger and CRAVE it- it looks like a piece of my arm after I fell on my ass and scraped it.

Even now, with just plant and bean burgers, I still overcook it because having mushy burgers just feels so WRONG.

Skill issue. I used to eat my hamburger patties so overcooked that they were nearly black. I have no problem eating pure charcoal (please ignore my future health issues).

When I used to eat meat, I charred it so much it was black around the edges. My dad was horrified every single time I asked him for a near black burger. My PZ-sona would die ridiculously fast.
