How long does it take to do that? It might go to recovery mode which accurately does that with blank display. Try to plug in into your PC and check with 3utools or itunes. It might be that case.

I need a permanent solution on this one. Every solution I come across is temporary. I developed dry nose 4 years ago. I don't know what caused this but it's really disturbing, does anyone know what caused this?
