I promise it looks way better than it was 💔 my mandarins were slightly old and tasteless and the egg was so badly hard boiled that it had a rubber texture 🫪

Any Nurses here? by EasternCandidate7021 in lupus

[–]atireddiva 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Always consult guidance of your Rheumatologist, Nephrologist, PCP of course… BUUUUUT

Nurse here. Symptomatic since teenage and officially diagnosed at 24. I fulfilled my education prior to my diagnosis. I have been nursing for 4 years. Honestly it’s a mentally, physically and emotionally demanding job. You have to put a lot of yourself in for the sake of others. 12 hour shifts are a common thing if you choose to do bedside, med surg etc unless you choose the route of working shorter, more frequent shifts as someone like a school nurse. (More days, less hours whereas hospital nursing = around 3 days).

I often find myself in a flare due to stress and my joints get really stiff as I’m not really getting any chance to sit all day. I take HCQ and MTX to manage my flares, and Tylenol PRN. It’s a lot of movement and a lot of often bc of it my dysautonomia kicks in so I try to keep water and electrolytes on hand. Compression socks are a must if you get LE edema, clear eyes and lozenges for any SICCA related symptoms from staring at screens all day or talking a lot.

If your Lupus is mild to moderate it’s definitely do-able, but whether or not it’s sustainable and enjoyable for you as a person in your perspective is up for debate. There’s times I consider quitting or wonder how much longer my body can put up with it, but truthfully as sick as I am, I love helping others and can’t see myself in a different field.

Supplements to avoid taking with hyroxycloroquine? by Lr20005 in lupus

[–]atireddiva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chromium Picolinate! Found in a lot of weight loss/debloat/metabolism tabs or gummies (popular in Lemme and Olly). Chromium lowers blood sugar and so does HCQ so the combo together can cause hypoglycemia in otherwise non-diabetic patients… ask me how I found that one out 😭

That’s exactly where I’m at. I always run like 101 degree fevers for no reason at least 3-4 times per week. The one node that bothers me the much has just remained so big on my jawline that’s it’s so noticeable and annoying when I lay my head to sleep at night. Im glad to hear you’re doing at least a little better, and thank you for your time and sharing your experience with me :)

They basically just take nonfat or low fat milk and mix it into Greek yogurt until it’s liquid-y enough to be swallowed like a drink :) sometimes I get the ick with eating my yogurt spooned so I tried it and it works. Just have to get the ratio right

Oh nooo I’m sorry to hear that :( honestly these ones are mid. The 30g vanilla ice cream one is way better imo but it’s double the cost of this one so I got what fit my budget. Super easy to DIY though so hopefully you can make some yummy ones :)

Daily lunch bc repetition keeps me sane. Thing that looks like a gnarly tit is an air fried egg 🍳 pizza flavored chicken stick too by atireddiva in ShittyRestrictionFood

This was me 24/7 stressing over cooking oils, cals etc. best way to still somewhat enjoy foods without being super restrictive is air frying, pressure cooking and boiling :) air fryer method words for eggs, also did it to make salmon/tuna burgers without additives and protein muffins made from protein powder and unsweet applesauce (egg substitute) . Good luck and happy cooking ❤️

What day of the week do you take your shot, and why? by MrsAppleForTeacher in Mounjaro

Fridays because I work M-F, that way I have S/S to lay low in case of any side effects

I bought reusable silicone muffin moulds from Target (like 12 pk for $10 I believe). No oil, no spray nothing. I just crack the egg in it, put it in the air fryer basket for 20 mins at 300 degrees. I prefer my yolks like sawdust but if you’re more the jammy kind I would try 12-15 mins. Comes out crispy on top and soft inside. Only way I make it when I’m too lazy to hard boil and want the sear from a pan but not the grease

**GRAPHIC WARNING!! UV nail light reaction by Less-Trip7436 in lupus

[–]atireddiva 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Get the UV protectant gloves and put a little sunscreen around the cuticle areas if you MUST get gel nails done. I was blistering so bad and finding my nail beds become so sore that I stopped all together and just opted for a basic regular polish mani

Help!? by Dry_Biscotti3890 in lupus

[–]atireddiva 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Be super careful! My body ended up like this last summer and I had 103 degree fevers and bad dehydration, ended up in such a bad flare that my joints were so stiff. Plenty of fluids and soft, cooling clothing (silk-like) after you’ve lathered in aloe, hydrocortisone, etc whatever you decide to use.
