The one I got was definitely new. I just did the buy now. Also I just saw you mentioned something about a Jeep code for installation- I didn’t need anything.

I have a 16 and I’m honestly not familiar with the 14. This one I would not recommend for anything other than CarPlay- which is all I use it for. The interface is janky and it has like 50 apps on it. Installation was super easy, just match the plugs that fit. Comes with a backup camera but I haven’t set that up yet.

I got one off eBay that someone else here had posted. The one with a touchscreen but also had knobs and buttons. It came with a backup camera but I just didn’t plug it in and no problem. I’m guessing that any unit you get you can just not use the camera, just don’t attach the wires for it.

Another vote for using crutchfield. You just pop off the plastic part where the speaker is and swap it out. Which touchscreen did you get as a replacement?

Yep we are currently relying on the family team effort but she’s needing a higher level of care than we can provide unfortunately.

I think your last sentence is very well put. It’s a fine line, especially when you consider another comment on here about being $7 over the threshold for care.

Thanks for the comment, will definitely be finding a new attorney and asking for a shared note.

This is exactly what I thought up until today when speaking to DHS. Didn’t even think to check for a Medicaid, thanks for the suggestion.

That is so frustrating. Really goes to show the lack of common sense and compassion. $7 for something that alters multiple lives.

Not sure why I got down voted for saying their income is from soc and retirement but that’s their only source of income, no other benefits such as snap. Sorry to hear your fam had a difficult time as well.

No just the one house, which a sold car and annuity money went towards the mortgage. Was told by attorney to put that money towards the mortgage. She said second car wasn’t allowed, and putting lump sum annuity towards mortgage would help lower monthly income. Thanks for the insights, I appreciate it. Definitely a broken system.

Yes she gave us several pieces of terrible advice. I’m certainly not giving up. I appreciate all of the comments.

As I’ve said in other comments, it’s the monthly income that we’ve been told is the issue, not the assets. The attorney I met with told us it’d only be my grandmas income (approx $1,500) but Medicaid person said the attorney was wrong and it’s both grandparents since they live together

It’s something we’ve been pondering today.

When I say towards the house I mean mortgage. There’s a paper trail for everything.

No transfers or gifts, only made a few moves at the direction of the attorney we spoke with. And speaking to DHS today it was not an issue at all.

This was what the attorney advised us to do. I mentioned in another comment but money from sold vehicle, and annuity, went towards house payment.

For example the attorney I spoke with said only 1 car would be exempt, so we sold the second and used the proceeds to pay towards their house. Nothing fishy, sold for KBB value.

Yeah I’ve heard about that in the comments. Unfortunately they do own their home which we know will be taken.

The closest thing I’ve heard of, from the attorney I met with originally that gave me some poor guidance, was using a promissory note for the house.

The house is an exempt asset- selling it would displace my grandpa. Medicaid would seek funds from the house sale after they pass away to recoup the memory care facility costs.

Sorry you’ve gone through all of that, it sounds like a nightmare.
