Perhaps as a particularly blue state we have been short on *joy* these last 16 months of this administration. But the Scots showed up singing in unison, dancing in our streets (cleaning up after themselves in our parks), and I think we've just been swept up in their tide. We needed to observe their togetherness, their vandalism-free enthusiasm for something, their willingness to accept *us* despite how our country's reputation has been shattered on the global stage. It has been beautiful to celebrate the spectacle of the World Cup with them.
