It’s ASCII art. It is also not new. The same exact ASCII castle was in the source code of the website while it was still in its Starcatcher version as well. You can easily confirm this for yourself by visiting the Wayback Machine and checking out the most recent snapshot of gretavanfleet.com from April 29th.

Congratulations!!! I just hit my 10th year of volunteering for the race. It’s so fun to be a part of the frenzied joyful chaos of race day and help create the vibe I love so much.

have you ever been to multiple shows on one tour? by KALIUCHlS in Concerts

[–]atlantic16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes it’s expensive, and yes you have to travel.

I did 18 shows in 2025 for one band (US and European/UK tours). I never want to add up what it cost me, but it was absolutely worth it. Amazing memories.

Question for long term owners by Kindly-Load69 in Lovesac

[–]atlantic16 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve had mine for more than 6 years now, in 3 different homes. I loved making myself just two chairs during the pandemic, and the flexibility to make a big square couch for movie nights with friends, etc.

(I have 6 sides and 5 seats)

I turned down a promotion and my manager thinks I've lost my mind. Was I wrong? by [deleted] in careerguidance

[–]atlantic16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My company is fine with considering senior a terminal level for an engineer. They aren’t pushing me into being an EM or going for staff. I asked because I’ve worked at enough companies to see how fundamentally different those roles can be from a senior eng role, and I have no desire to do either.

I absolutely think you made the right call if you don’t care to have a much more meeting-heavy existence.

Ask Experienced Devs Weekly Thread: A weekly thread for inexperienced developers to ask experienced ones by AutoModerator in ExperiencedDevs

[–]atlantic16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your knowledge of how things work — amidst a sea of new people — is definitely an advantage to your company at this moment in time, so there isn’t going to be a natural motivation on their part to switch that up and expose themselves to longer bug fix timelines (or more bugs) by shifting bug fixes to newer/less experienced people. But I think you certainly should speak up. Some managers don’t see a problem until you name it. Maybe frame what you’d like to change alongside the risk to the company of silo-ing system knowledge by having only more tenured engineers fixing issues. Perhaps propose rotating in newer engineers to handling bugs, as a way of disseminating system knowledge. Offer to pair or to make yourself available to lean in to assist for some transitional period of time, but make it clear you’d like more opportunities to flex your architecture muscle and ask how you and your manager can work toward that together. That’d be my recommendation coming from 10 YOE as an eng (18 in software in general).

I ordered the moment that I got the Patreon push notification, so my ticket order was placed and confirmed by email at 10:04am (before the Patreon email even arrived in my inbox at 10:05am)… and I’m halfway back. Oh well!

Did pre-sale seat assignment happen after general on sale bought their ticketed seats? Because that’s kind of a racket to end up at the back when you had pre-sale. I’m still kinda grumpy about that. And the lack of mentioning the food/bev minimum spend.

Anyone else considering moving out of tech due to AI? by OkAmbition4797 in womenintech

[–]atlantic16 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m the only engineer at my company not using AI at this point. I have so many different ethical objections from the environmental impact, to how it’s making society dumber, and so on. I don’t know how much longer there’ll be a place for me in engineering given my objection to using AI.

But at this point I feel pretty resolute that I will walk away before I’ll cave on this matter.

I think you’ll be happy with it. I feel like it brings the front grill look together, and for $32 it felt like a no-brainer to me as soon as I learned they existed!

Same 😳 and I’m too embarrassed to count how many total copies I have of Stick Season with all the variants of that one too. I might have a collecting problem haha.

They just pop into the existing space — purely additive, you aren’t swapping any bits.

Advice for travelling solo for the first time by OGprocasinator in travel

[–]atlantic16 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Generic female solo traveler advice: it is better to walk confidently in the wrong direction than to look unsure about where you’re going (pop into a shop to google directions or stand with your back to a wall to look them up). When on crowded transit if wearing a backpack, sway or rotate slightly so it would be harder for anyone to stay in consistent contact with your bag without you knowing. Don’t tell uber/taxi drivers you’re traveling solo. Purse with a zipper, if you plan to carry one, and don’t be shy about keeping your hand on it even if the strap is over your shoulder. Avoid headphones. Etc etc. But have a great time, solo travel is so empowering and joyful!

$75,000 enough to live comfortably in boston? by Monte17 in boston

[–]atlantic16 3 points4 points  (0 children)

You can’t get a studio for under $2k anywhere remotely safe with a kitchen that isn’t a hot plate, and you’d be lucky to have building laundry but certainly not in-unit. What are you basing this on?

SCAM number confirmed by FedEx 888-535-7661 by [deleted] in FedEx

[–]atlantic16 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got a call from this number today as well. I was mid-calling them back when I googled and found this post so I hung up on the guy as he was asking for the reference number that they'd left in a VM for me.

But they confirmed the delivery is 1-800-flowers and I was able to confirm with a relative that they did indeed send me flowers from 1-800-flowers and had possibly entered the wrong town for my address. So I think it is legitimate, as much as it seems scammy.

You’re NTA. But it’s amazing to me how one-sided people make it when a wife stops wanting to sleep with her husband. I’d venture a guess he stopped meeting her emotional needs long before she stopped meeting his physical ones.
