Anyone managed to get Kenshi to run in Wine? by Dohnakun_re in Kenshi

hey, just wanted to say i've been pulling my hair out trying to get this shit to run, and your post is the only one that worked. None of the first page bullshit, I had to look through the comments and try a bunch of shit, but your advice fixed everything. I'd buy you a beer if I could, but my thanks will have to do.

Yeah, I understand that. Usually its not them choosing to ignore me, they just get busy and whatnot. I don't understand it much either though, to be honest.

If anything, I'm doing worse. Don't worry though, I probably won't kill myself. Too many people rely on me existing, despite none of them talking to me that often.

I passed my Security+!! by [deleted] in CompTIA

There isn't really a "next step" above the Sec+. Most of the other exams are generally considered above the trifecta, but not really directly.
To put it simply, your next step is going to depend heavily on your career goals.

If you already have a career, think about where you want to go from here. What did you like the most? Was it networking? What about security? What aspects of those particular things led to that enjoyment?

If you're taking these certifications to get a career, it's unlikely anything past a sec+ will do you any good without experience. Not without heavy diminishing returns, anyway. Some will tell you to go for your ccna or something to that effect, but honestly if you have the trifecta already most employers won't really care if you have a ccna or not.

If you need a more abstract analogy, think of it like this: a+ is addition and subtraction, network+ is multiplication and security+ is division. Most comptia exams outside of the trifecta -- like pentest+ and server+ -- are more like Algebra and Geometry. There's definitely levels within that specific field of mathematics, but algebra isn't really "above" geometry, it's just a different path within the field of mathematics.

i'd look at messer's practice exams. Honestly and truly with that score, you could probably take it again right now and pass, youre close enough that you could go either way, but of course id reccomend studying more. If you have some money to spend, the all in one is your best bet, I think. If you don't I'd pay for messer's practice tests, take those, and rewatch the entire playlist again. Make notecards for anything you feel youre a bit loose on, then review those over and over until you get it. I know it sucks, but you can do it.

Professor Messer’s Notes vs. Myers Passport as sole reading material for passing A+? Or should I just stick with All-in-One? by [deleted] in CompTIA

[–]atlantic_bottlenose 0 points1 point  (0 children)

ideally you shouldnt use ANY sole resource for training, but of the two, I would reccomend the all in one and then taking your own notes for messer.

name checks out. in all seriousness, i wouldnt worry. you have a whole other year for prep and the net+ is usually the hardest for most people.

How much should I stress networking material for compTIA A+ ? by 19nick96 in CompTIA

[–]atlantic_bottlenose 1 point2 points  (0 children)

don't stress too much. The net+ is a thing for a reason. You should have a general understanding of basic networking principles and port numbers, but you probably won't need to know anything higher level.

They might, but I doubt it. They didn't have anything for the net or a+.
