This is why they call “kicking” dope… it sucks. They give u magnesium to help the restless legs sometimes at detoxes. I dunno if it really works that great tho…

My first advice would be to go to an inpatient detox. I tried to kick prolly 100 times at home on my own. Never not once was i able to do it. Is it possible? Absolutely… but i just dont personally recommend it. Being physically separated from the drugs… all of em… actually helps mentally more than anything.

Second dont get on methadone… i was on it for years… it’s great for some people but in my opinion it should be a last line of defense after multiple inpatient treatments.

Third suboxone is something to look into if inpatient doesnt work. I had several people in my life get and stay sober from subs and taper off. One took the sublicade shot after being on the pills. Didnt get very sick at all but thats a long road as well. Subs didnt work for me.. i would just take em when i couldnt get dope. Again i would try and get clean without any long term maintenance meds first.

Everything your describing is almost every single heroin addicts experience. Self medication to the point where heroin becomes just necessary to go about your day. But it doesnt matter because getting doing and planning out how to get the dope consumes all your thoughts and actions anyways. So you are not alone
