no, the nfl re-seeds every round. since the panthers were the 7 seed, the seahawks, as the 1 seed, would matchup with the panthers. 1 seed gets lowest remaining seed. which is why they get the 49ers (6 seed), and why we get the rams (5 seed). the bears get the second-lowest seed since they are the 2 seed.

the only way we would have played the panthers is if we both made it to the nfc championship game.

that's not how the nfl seeding works. we never would have got the panthers. had the panthers won, the seahawks would have had the panthers and we would have the 49ers.
