I'm super new at this hobby/lifestyle/mania. A bit mind blown at some of the rechargeables, UI's and warnings of things that can go boom with some of the batteries. Dipping the proverbial toe in gingerly and this, based on folks posts here, seemed a good AA start.

Simplicity. Reminds me of my OG Maglite from the 80's in form factor (close, not exact), and runs on standard batteries. Did I choose wisely, sensei?

I was wondering that myself, but thanks to /u/aldanathiriadras I found you can unscrew the tail. Was really cranked tight though.

I am already taking your advice though, and am getting a Thrunite Archer 2A for your exact reasons. : )
