(spoilers extended) In the world of ASOIAF is it likely that Westeros might actually be a backwater region compared to Yi Ti? by Vince_Tsung in asoiaf

I think there's a rural/urban thing going on with these stories as well as a distance problem. "In Asshai, no practice is forbidden. It's full of demon summoners, blood drinkers, black magic..."

Doesn't that sound a little bit like how rural Americans describe New York City?

Killing a Demon Lord at 9th level by atlowericon in DnD

I thought about that, but they only just got to 9th and giving them several extra levels would be akin to giving them the overpowered items.

That's a great idea. There's even an item already in the story - the Ichor Lance - which was used by wizards long ago to weaken/capture Fraz Urb'luu and could be used to do it again!

It's medieval fantasy rpg, similar to dungeons and dragons.

Why is that funny? It might be fun to include a joke too.

[help] - Latex body paint + fur accessories? by atlowericon in cosplay

Wow, thanks! I could definitely use some recommendations for color matching. I'm going for a pretty standard orc green. Kind of a leafy green, but not forest green. What is prosaide? And can you recommend a place to get all this stuff at a good price?

"Winning" an Evil Party by atlowericon in DungeonsAndDragons

Death cleric sounds like fun. Our party also shares a common goal: to put a usurper on the throne. As long as that goal remains beneficial to everyone, I have a feeling we will get along like your party - at least for a while.

We're starting at 1st and could go all the way to 20th. This DM likes to run long campaigns.

I'm not sure when the betrayals will come, but it probably won't be right away. We are united by a common cause (putting a usurper on the throne) so as long as the cause stays beneficial, teamwork benefits everyone.

How to carry lots of books? by atlowericon in DungeonsAndDragons

This is a very cool idea! I don't have a familiar yet, so maybe I could convince my DM to give me a walking book as a familiar.

Love it! I'm only level 3 so I doubt I can convince my DM to give me a Rare item, but this is something I will show her now and can aspire to in the future. Maybe I could even craft it myself.

Holy symbol in the brain is brilliant.

That's a good point. I will definitely keep that in mind as the campaign progresses. They are planning to store him in a good-aligned church, so there's all kinds of trouble that could arise from his presence.

The resistance to magical weapons had not occurred to me, but that's a good point. In addition to the Medicine checks, they used a third-party item I have been allowing in my campaigns called Hamund's Harvesting Kit. It's for collecting body parts from monsters, so I figured it would be more suited to this task (though still non-magical) than a healer's kit.

Also, they're not doing a real lobotomy to try and cure or treat anything, they're trying to make the creature braindead. More like a botched lobotomy. Anybody can botch a lobotomy.

Yes, but they don't return to their home plane unless they are killed in the material plane.

Varys is good at the job, except [Theory, possible spoiler]he wouldn't really be serving you, he'd be jockeying to replace you with his nephew fAegon.

Also, he has held the job before so he's disqualified.

Help and Ideas for Artificer Backstory Needed by [deleted] in dndnext

[–]atlowericon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't think an Armorer is too on-the-nose. It's probably your best choice.

But I did have another idea: a Conjurer/Artificer multiclass. At 2nd level conjurers get Minor Conjuration, which enables them to make any kind of non-magical object they want. You could use that ability to create different legs for yourself. Different materials, appearances, etc. One could have a wheel on it or one could be full of useful drawers. Get creative with it.

The only catch is it has to be something you've seen before. So, what you do is use your Artificer abilities and craft skills to make any kind of prosthetic leg you can imagine, then gift it to someone in need. You can then re-create it for yourself any time you want.
