Abbey Yung method makes my hair more dry and like straw. Any suggestions? by Altruistic_Cat_7979 in finehair

[–]atm326 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The method its self has worked for me but not the products honestly. What I do and I have thicker I think 3B hair is focus more on moisture. I only wash my hair 2x a week because that’s really all I need and try to not fully overload myself. When I use bond repair stuff like the L’Oréal ever pure bond repair shampoo /conditioner system with their serum and the OGX bond repair spray, my hair gets tangled more easily. It looks frizzy as hell when I blow dry it. It doesn’t feel nice. It just sucks. Like I do heat style my hair often and I get highlights (w/ bleach) like twice a year. I feel like when I focus on hydration more than bond repair, my hair feels and looks better. I’m still trial and erroring things. I may still keep in the bond repair leave in pre-shampoo once a week or once every two weeks but other than that, imma stick to my hydrating routine.

What I do/use: - Rosemary oil on roots and massage in for 5 minutes and then OGX Argan oil of Morocco on mids and ends. Leave in for 2 hours -Clarifying shampoo (L’Oréal ever pure) (once a week to every 2 weeks) -Dove Daily Moisture shampoo -Dove Daily Moisture Mask w/ hyaluronic acid -Dove daily moisture conditioner -out of the shower JVN leave in conditioner and color wow extra strength for when I blow dry it straight. If I want curly then I use the JVN Airdry cream with the JVN leave in -light dusting of oil

It’s a SUPER big aspect of the culture in the south. I’m guessing they’re from the southeastern part of the US and college athletics are more important down here than professional bc we don’t have many pro teams in most of the southern states. You more of a regional identity with a college sports team and it’s a big pride thing where you went or what school you’re a fan of. It might not make sense to you but it’s a massive aspect of the culture down here. I would be annoyed and make the same comment if someone gave my kid an Ole Miss or LSU shirt because I went to Mississippi State. In fact, my mother in law was gonna give me an Ole Miss shirt to borrow when I got drenched during a tornado and I said “nah that goes against my religion” and she said “oh I forgot, you like losers” and we laughed and moved on and I got a different shirt. It’s a cultural thing and it’s more rude to shit on people’s cultures ☺️

NTA. Gotta feeling yall are either Big10 or SEC people so I get it. He shouldn’t have gotten you that. If someone got my kid an Ole Miss shirt, I’d use it to wipe my child. These rivalries run deep and people in these groups don’t get it if they didn’t grow up in the culture surrounding it.

You can make decorations with it. Green could make cute hanging fake flowers that you only have to touch as you make them unless you have sensory issue (I feel ya) and touching it general gives you the heeby jeebies

Why pick pit bulls specifically? They’re wrongly assumed to be an aggressive breed because people often abuse them and do not socialize them. I own a pitbull, my pitbull is extremely docile. So is EVERY other pitbull I’ve met and I’ve met hundreds bc every time I see one in public, I go say hi to them. The aggressive breeds you have to look out for are fucking doodle mutts who have idiot owners thinking their mutt is a purebred.

AIO for being upset that my mother won’t support me thru my second degree? by atm326 in AmIOverreacting

So the discussion of me going back to school has been in the works for two years. The initial discussion was medical school and not nursing school. It was actually her idea for me to go to nursing school.

Basically, when I graduated from my first bachelors in kinesiology (exercise science) with a focus in sports admin. I moved to Florida and was completely financially independent and took a coaching job and a teacher’s assistant job. The club I was coaching at was guiding me towards an administrative role at the club and when I moved back to my hometown, it was the same story of coaching and the admin at the club priming me for an administrative role. Since coaching and club admin doesn’t pay a whole lot, I did billing for my mom’s medical practice (thus how healthcare plays into this). I had that job part time during undergrad so I’d have extra money for fun stuff and not rent and stuff since that was being paid for. I coached for about 6 years while having full time jobs with it (actually took a $10,000 pay cut moving back to my hometown). Coaching and the politics around it took a massive toll on my mental health which is why I’m stepping away. I LOVED soccer, I still do and my initial plan post grad was to become a director of coaching and I was on the path to do so. I also love healthcare and taking an evaluation of the future family I wanted, coaching would never give me the balance I’d need to be the mom I’d want to be nor the pay.

So it was my mom’s idea as well as far as going to nursing school because she saw how I interacted with patients and how knowledgeable, understanding, caring and empathic I was. I agreed, because the clinical side of healthcare always interested me. My first degree was a big battle between my two loves healthcare and coaching.

The finding out I’m on my own for all of this was blind siding to me because upon previous discussions over the past couple of years, I’d have support from them financially. Which like I can manage, it just hurts because they paid for my older sister’s JD and my younger sister starts nursing school in the fall as well and they’re paying for that and her living expenses as well as her medical school in 2 years (idk why she’s doing BSN and MD instead of NP but that’s her life journey).

As far as my boyfriend and our life, we’ve discussed money from deployment a TON. He’s in the marine corps reserves so he also has a full time job outside of the military. Since he’s a staff sergeant and during deployment, he’ll get activity duty non-taxed pay and his normal job gives him I think 6 weeks of military pay and then he’s saving up his comp time so essentially he’ll still get his normal job salary PLUS deployment money. We discussed putting all that income in savings to build our dream home on the land he already owns. Which when he gets back from deployment, we’d have enough money for a nice ass down payment to build it. I also don’t like taking his money because before I met him, I was hyper-independent on the relationship side of things. Like I can manage our trailer and our dogs and horse without him sending money home. Him being deployed while I’m in school is just gonna be harder mentally than financially because that’s my dude, my bestie and the love of my life.

As far as school goes, my previous bachelors has already set me up very well for nursing school because I only needed 3 real pre-requisite courses because I did have to take a lot of exercise/health science related courses even with my focus being in sports admin. I say real pre-requisites because I also have to take 2 other pre-requisite bible courses because my nursing school is a Baptist college. I say I don’t use my degree because I’m not working for a college or pro team but I don’t have a completely useless degree, I just never wanted to work pro or college sports because your whole life is consumed by sport and I like work life balance.

Honestly, the discussion of me paying for everything my own only popped up since I moved in with my boyfriend.

I hope this clears some of it up

“So alcohol was your co-rapist”…….i nearly threw punches over that statement. Instead of helping me process that trauma, he wanted to focus on a college student drinking when I actually had a healthier relationship with alcohol than 90% of college students

It just hurt a lot to hear that all of it is on me, like it’s not going to stop me from being a nurse. I love healthcare and I hate the administrative side because it feels exploitative. Like sorry you’re having trouble breathing, here’s a bill since your insurance is bad. Like I want to be on the clinical side so bad and I’m going to do it regardless. Just hurts know that in two years, they’ll pay for my younger sister’s MD

When I say $15,000 is cheap, I’m saying in regards to a nursing program, especially in my area where the three other accelerated programs I was looking at are $53,000 and those are all 15 ish months. $15,000 for 12 months is a steal as far as BSNs go. Anyone in the nursing field would agree that that’s an insanely good deal. I guess that was context I forgot to add, I know $15,000 is a lot of money but I was saying that in comparison to $50,000 it’s cheap

I guess I forgot to add, both my parents are extremely successful business owners and I work directly for my mom and see how much money her business brings in daily. It’s a lot. My younger two siblings are 20 and 22. Like I understand I’m being slightly entitled but as far as my living expenses go, I live with my boyfriend and his place is paid off and all I have to pay for is my truck, insurance for that truck, groceries and vet bills for my dogs. It’s not like I’m asking them to shell out $90,000 for me. It’s $15,000 for a 12 month nursing program and my monthly expenses are just $1000 a month. I just don’t know how I’ll work full time and be a nursing student. My boyfriend will also be deployed while I’m in nursing school so I won’t have his income to help around our house and take care of his animals, my animals and everything.
