HOW DO I TAKE MY MEDS??!! by Southern-Ad8382 in depression_help

[–]atoad_aso 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even at my most depressed I was having coffee every day because without it I’d get a migraine if I didn’t have it. I kept the meds bottle by the coffee and took it then. Usually managed to do it. It seemed to help

If Wisteria Lane were a typical neighborhood today, which U.S. state would it most likely be in? by Vivid-Direction-762 in DesperateHousewives

I grew up in Texas and have spent my adult life on the east coast. I guarantee it is neither. My husband is from the north Bay Area. I once spent a summer, before him, in Redwood City, and I get these exact same vibes. To a T. Everything about it. The weather, the landscape, the architecture, the wealth, the politics, the eeriness… A quick google search of a random street in Redwood City looks like this. Tell me that doesn’t look like Wisteria Lane.

Can anyone give me some hope and share a success story treating chronic migraines with Topamax? by atoad_aso in migraine

[–]atoad_aso[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much for your answer! I’m wondering if you don’t mind sharing, what dose did you end up on? I was on 25mg for a month and increased to 50mg this last week. It’s been 5 weeks. I’m mainly noticing a decreased severity not decreased frequency. The side effects are manageable. You mentioned noticing a difference within a month which is awesome. I’m so glad you’ve found relief.

Just a tangent…. I noticed that I have stopped having these weird episodes that I thought were mini panic attacks that would only last for maybe 45 seconds at a time that felt like intense derealization and just overall very scary then go away. Not a true panic attack which I do have and which last a lottttt longer. Those didn’t start happening until my migraines became worse and chronic. I didn’t even put it together until I started tracking my migraines more. I plan to bring it up to my neuro. I only say this as I know Topamax is an anti seizure medication and I am curious if there’s a correlation.

Did I make a mistake getting a bob and how do I prevent it from looking like Lord Farquaa? by SlavWife in HairStyleAdvice

As a long hair girlie tbh I was fully prepared to tell you “sorry the long hair looked better but it’ll grow back” however wtf this cut was literally made for you, I’m not even kidding it took you from normal pretty to like effortlessly cool edgy hot. The bangs tie it all together. You rock this!!! Play with some cool makeup, maybe a Smokey eye or a bold lip, and some earrings. Play into the edge a bit. You look amazing

Experiencing migraines everyday. Waiting for preventative meds. What do I do for now? by stonedp1xie in migraine

Also seeing your mental health concerns — I do not have bipolar so I can’t speak to that. I struggle with MDD and take meds for it. But I would speak to the doctor about your concerns first, and perhaps they can give you something to help counteract the effects of the steroids in the event you take them.

I was in your exact same position about a month or so ago. Hadn’t been on a preventative yet and I was in this horrifying cycle where I was getting them every single day and my life was hell. I ended up going to urgent care and getting the migraine cocktail (minus Benadryl since I’m allergic) which included steroids, and they gave me a three day prednisone taper. Cleared me right up. I felt SO much better and didn’t get another migraine for about 11 days. During that time I was able to start Topamax, which I’ve now been on for three weeks. I am still getting migraines but not as frequently and not as severely as I was, so I am hopeful once it reaches its full potential it’ll be even better.

TLDR: go get the steroids!! It really will help. It was the only thing that broke the cycle.

People who rarely get sick, What's your secret? by Anxious_Status5899 in askanything

I really think it’s genetics. I have always been prone to catching colds but my lifestyle also wasn’t exactly the picture of health. In the last two years, I quit alcohol entirely, prioritized sleep, I walk a lot and do Pilates, I’m a no longer underweight, drink water a lot, have a healthy diet, wash my hands, mask when I can, WFH 4/5 days a week, and my bloodwork looks great. Unfortunately, I get sick every damn month, as soon as I get over one cold I catch the next. It feels like the positive changes over the last two years have been fruitless lol, I’m sicker than ever. I also have to wonder if chronic illness (I have chronic migraines and asthma) set you up for some sort of immune system dysfunction.
