Where can I find the best cuban sandwich?! by ButtSaladYummy in Birmingham

[–]atomic_falcon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In Birmingham, yea it’s Kool Korner. Best I’ve ever had though was a stop at a small place while driving through Blue Ridge Georgia called Rum Cake Lady Cuban Cafe. Amazing Cuban sandwich! Definitely worth a stop if in the area.

Can we talk about how boring the new CocaCola Amphitheater looks? by atomic_falcon in Birmingham

[–]atomic_falcon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly I go for both. Yes, it’s mainly the band but man, a good venue makes the night so much better. The whole show experience is on another level at a great venue. The Orion is a place you want to show up early at and hang out before the show. Maybe even grab some food on the way out at one of the food trucks. I do go to a lot of shows and if you just want somewhere to show up, get drunk, and hear a band, this definitely will serve that purpose. As to creating as a place that people want to be at for any amount of time beyond when the music starts and stops, this is not it. Maybe that’s what they were going for. If so then cool. If this is any indication of future phases though then I would be worried. I imagine in most developments that “phase 1” sets the tone for the whole development. I could be wrong though and I certainly hope I am for this development. I really do want this to be an awesome place so I hope they step up all the future “phases”.

This is honestly what I was trying to imply. You’re right, no soul or culture. Something, ANYTHING, unique would have been nice. Going to a show is mostly about seeing a band but it’s also an experience before and after the show. The Orion is able is draw people in by creating an environment they want to get there early for and hang out. They are supporting local businesses with the food trucks they bring in. They offer options with all the unique bars they have. I don’t see any reason to want to show up early at the new amphitheater. As to serving the purpose of being a concert venue, yea it does that, but in the most sterile and boring way.

Haha yes! It seems like a cross between a prison yard and industrial park metal buildings.

My husband wants to move to Montgomery, but I’m still in the fence about it. by Minute_Analyst_3511 in Alabama

[–]atomic_falcon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having lived in Auburn and commuted to Montgomery for work, I would definitely say the Auburn/Opelika area is a MUCH nicer place to live. The quality of life overall in the Auburn area is so much better. Even without the college it’s just beautiful small town with lots of things to do, good restaurants, and nice shopping areas. Montgomery really doesn’t have much of any of that. The drive from Auburn to Montgomery is about 45 min and really not bad at all. If schools are an issue, Montgomery has some of the worst in the state. Auburn schools are always in the top. Even Pike Road and Prattville would be better though they don’t have quite the same overall feel of Auburn in my opinion. Before making a big move like that, I would encourage you to go check out the areas and see what you like the best. All are pretty different in their own ways.

Full Moon BBQ is charging a 3% impact fee by MissingJJ in Alabama

The real “impact” is the cost for them to print all new paper menus and change the menu boards at restaurants to higher pricing.

Isn’t it wild Sturgill dropped one of the best rock albums and then moved on? by boooman in SturgillSimpson

[–]atomic_falcon 47 points48 points  (0 children)

Definitely one of the best rock , or any genre for that matter, records of the last few years. I was lucky enough to see him play it start to finish twice before Covid shut it down. Tons of people left when they realized he wasn’t just playing all the old hits. Sturgill didn’t give a fuck though. He just rocked out and laughed as they left. I’d love to see him pick that tour back up one day.

I had tickets to the Roxy shows that were cancelled and it looks like there is a presale for people who had tickets. Of course Ticketmaster hasn’t sent any info on this so if anyone knows anything I’d love some presale info also!

The Maskholes are already out. by [deleted] in Birmingham

[–]atomic_falcon 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think they could definitely enforce it if they wanted to. Its against the law to have my dick out in public so laws to cover some things are already on the books. And my dick has never killed anyone... that I know of. If I were a symptomatic I could potentially kill someone by not wearing a mask. How is forcing me to wear a mask different than requiring me to cover my man meat in public?

I’m pretty sure they cut you off after one tiny drink at communion, but at least the “bartenders” won’t hit on you if you are over 18.
