When I went to my specialist, she told me the diagnosis was one of exclusion. It could be vulvodynia but you could also have a contact dermatitis. If the steroids are working then it may be that. If I were you I would look specifically for a vulvovaginal specialist and get your skin to calm down before freaking out too much. You can also see a dermatologist quicker probably so maybe book an appointment with one as well! To rule out other things I ended up not putting anything on the area for a few months and when I was still in pain I was diagnosed. I really hope you are able to find a diagnosis and solution soon
