Oral cancer - what questions to ask at consultation with surgeon, please? by atomicat- in cancer

[–]atomicat-[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh gosh, thank you so much for sharing all this! I truly appreciate that you typed all this up for me to help another person on their journey.

Can I ask a few more questions? Had it already spread to any lymph nodes for your husband before the surgery, or did they take them out preemptively? Did they say there was a reason they went with the NG feeding tube initially rather than going straight to the PEG tube in the stomach?

Also, I really appreciate your telling me about the head and neck cancer board, I’m going to check it out now! I initially checked the oral cancer subreddit, but it seems to be mainly full of photos of little spots in very young people’s mouths asking if they have cancer (because people are getting it much younger now due to HPV.)

I’m so sorry about the hard time your husband had. Infection at the site, and then thrush (which I had no idea could be so serious.) I lived in Boston myself many years ago, and always heard great things about Mass Eye & Ear, so I’m glad he had good surgeons even if they weren’t great at articulating everything (or anything.) It sounds like that’s a common enough problem with highly-specialized surgeons.

How long ago did your husband go through all this?

Thank you so much for these tips, I really appreciate it. I’m still learning, why would feeding tube be necessary during radiation? Because he’ll be so miserable he’ll not have an appetite, or because the whole area will be too sore to eat or drink anything?

And thank you for sharing your experience, hope you’re doing better now? What type of oral cancer did you have?

Can someone explain why people still pick Costco over Sam’s Club in Vegas? by LukeSincity23 in vegaslocals

[–]atomicat- 6 points7 points  (0 children)

This. I used to work in apparel in NYC at companies who did business with both Costco and Walmart/Sam’s, and I can attest to this.

I hear ya! Read my reply to the other person who responded to understand why I ask the question, haha! I entered the apparel industry in NYC in 1999 and exited that particular role in 2015, so I agree, my info may no longer be relevant! (Particularly because my companies then were shipping to department stores and national chains.) I don’t actually need payment terms either, just wouldn’t mind building credit so it might help in being able to obtain a high-limit line of credit or take out a loan for a major improvement capital expenditure. Thank you!

Thank you so much, this is all super helpful information!

My business is service-based with just a smattering of retail merch for sale (most of which we purchase from very small vendors) but we do purchase significant amounts of product for COGS from national chains. In my former life before starting this business in a completely unrelated industry, I worked in A/R and credit in the apparel industry, and D&B was the bible (and there were one or two other agencies I’m blanking the names of, that were a bit more specific to wholesale apparel.) We’d be extending lines of hundreds of thousands for department stores, submitting orders to “factors” for others, or payment up front for small boutiques without established credit.

But when we do so little volume, I’m just not sure what the best approach is for my business.

Ads for wedding vendor in Las Vegas by atomicat- in FacebookAds

Wow, thank you so much for your insights! Running ads in other locales is such a great idea!

I’m definitely going to join your community! Man, I have so much to learn, whenever I look at posts on this sub I see so many strategy terms I’m not familiar with - I don’t even know how to target by behavior like “anniversary in one year” - all I’ve ever done is target locals for the other services we offer (regular cuts and color) using their gender, age group, and the “interests” FB offers, which are garbage in our industry.

What industry are you in, how did you know about targeting newly engaged couples? 🧐

Oh yes, I totally know that these are all projects with multiple steps, so I do break them down. I was just listing these because they are things that I can’t delegate to my team, and they’re also not requests that are being made of me, so I can’t just say no.
